MELVIN "MICKEY" CHARLES JUNIOR PARENTEAU

“Blue Lightning Man”

November 17, 1986 – March 4, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mickey Parenteau.

Mickey passed away suddenly but peacefully at the Health Science centre On March 4th, 2024 @ 4:35pm, with his wife and daughter by his side and everyone that meant most to him in the next room. Mickey leaves behind his wife Brittany, their children Kirstyn and Max, his children Thomas and Michelle, his mother Elaine, father Melvin (Sharon) (Cherish & Dulas), siblings Vince, Helen, Angela, and Lily. Mother-in-law Suzette (Richard), father-in-law David, sister-in-law Raina, nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, and special friends. Predeceased by his sister Melvina(chooch), brother Kelvin, nephew Jason, granny Merna and coco Olga.

Mickey was the second youngest of 5, raised in Winnipeg MB. He had a good childhood and although Mick had a soft spot for all his siblings, he was especially close to his younger sister Helen. A lot of his best childhood memories are with her. He would tell us stories of times they skipped school, went on little adventures, or the many animals Mickey and Helen shared. The family moved to Brandon MB when Mickey was a young teenager. Mickey stayed behind with his dad when the rest of the family moved back to Winnipeg. Thats where he became more independent. As an adult mickey's proudest moments were becoming a father and marrying the love of his life.

Mickey was larger than life. He was so loving, caring, compassionate, and kind. He would fill up and brighten any room. If you were ever in a bad mood, he knew exactly what to say or do to fix it. He was good at making people laugh with his crazy humor, he had a contagious laugh and smile that kept everyone going. Mickey was a very generous person he would give the shirt off his back to someone else in need. Whether it was helping family, getting food for strangers or giving chocolates and gift cards to the staff at the hospital. He was always in a giving mood. Mickey was so appreciative of everything he had in life, he was the humblest guy and would be happy with absolutely nothing for himself as long as everyone else had everything they needed. Mickey was the type to check on you, to see how you were doing and make sure you were good while he secretly went through hell. There probably isn’t a single person that can say anything bad or negative about or towards Mick so that tells you what type of guy he truly was.

Mickey's number one priority in life was his babies. If they wanted it, they got it. He was their biggest hero and protector. His favorite thing was spending time with the kids and living in the moment. He would just sit and stare at them for hours. He taught them all their firsts. He loved to cuddle them, watch movies & play toys/video games. Mickey loved going on Highway drives and random road trips. He enjoyed going to watch horse racing or playing at the casino. One of his hobbies was cruising around St. Vital mall on an electric scooter. He really loved singing, making songs for YouTube and especially karaoke. His top songs to sing were hurt by johnny cash, can’t help falling in love by Elvis Presley, & Take good care of my baby by Bobby Vee.

For the past year and 3 months Mickey battled leukemia, a cancer of the blood. He completed his first remission in January of 2023, and he was to continue chemotherapy for two years, but chemo caused too many complications, so it was no longer safe for him to be on. The cancer came back in October 2023 in which he completed his second remission on November 28th, 2023. Since then, he was on immunotherapy that we thought seemed to be going okay. Mickey also battled cirrhosis of the liver. In the last three months of mickey's life, he was noticeably suffering more and more. But he continued to push and fight and lead everyone on to believe he was going to be okay. The only time you heard from Mick was on his good days he didn't want anyone to know he was sick the only person he shared that with was his wife and she fought for him and with him, right beside him until the very end. Mickey fought as hard as he could although he was visibly tired mentally, emotionally and physically. Mickey gave silent signs that it was time for him to go home to be with God. He knew it was his time but because of the man he was he didn’t want to worry anyone. Throughout the year he has had time to prepare his wife and children with the possibility of his passing. Mickey fought and hid his sickness so much so that he was on a trip to mall of America the day before his passing.

Mickey was a proud member of his church Abundant Life Baptist Church although he didn't attend as often once he was sick, he made sure to watch service through YouTube and he would often call or stop by to see pastor Brad for prayers and support.

In lieu of flowers please consider making contributions in Mickey's memory to GD6 unit at the Health Science centre or cancer care Manitoba or a charity of your choice.

A message to Mickey from his loving wife Brittany, “Oooh my love you are so deeply missed by me. Every minute of every hour of everyday reminds me of you. I sit in your empty room with nothing but thoughts and memories. You gave me the most amazing 15 years of my life. I will never be able to thank you enough for everything. I am incredibly sad that you left me, but I understand you needed to go. You are no longer in pain or suffering. I will take care of our babies and be as good to them as you were. I will make sure they never forget how magnificent of a man you were. “I can’t help falling in love with you”. Save me my spot up there my love. To infinity, we will be together again one day! Forever & always right britt?! This was a once in a lifetime love and I will cherish it for the rest of my life. I did, I do, and I will always love you, Mickey.”

I am so sad. I can’t believe that I am writing this. I’ve known Mickey for almost 18-19 years I first met them on Xbox, plane, brothers and arms. He asked me for a friend request and from there on was one of my best and only friend we talked every day. He was like a brother to me a son to me he meant everything to me. We played a lot of games together, he taught me a lot of things we both had bad days and good days and we would talk about them and after we were done it went from a bad day to a good day that’s a kind of guy he was never got to meet him and then when he came down with his cancer, I told him once he gets better I was gonna come up to meet him and his beautiful family. I really thought that he was going to beat this. We would talk about it every day. We would talk about God on about how much he is sticking by him. Well now he’s with him and his family. I know I’m gonna miss him so much I think about him every day it’s not a day that I don’t think about him because that’s the kind of guy he was and I’ve never even met him, and feels like all these years that I’ve known him, we would FaceTime at sometimes and it just feels like I’ve known him forever. I love you, Mickey I will always talk to you every day. It’ll be always a special place in my heart for you and I hope when the good Lord takes me that we will meet. You are in no more pain. God bless you my brother.🌹❤️🌹
