BEVERLEY JOYCE PASCOE

June 23, 1945 – January 5, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Beverley Joyce Pascoe on January 5, 2025 at the age of 79.

Beverley was born on June 23, 1945 in Kingston, Jamaica, to Iris Glanville and Herbert Pascoe. She came to Canada in 1973 and was soon employed as a Health Care Aide at the Municipal Hospital in Winnipeg. She later graduated from Red River College with diplomas in Commercial Cooking and Commercial Baking. She was employed in Food Services at Red River College when she met her future husband, Alfred Chatwell, who was a student there. They married in Winnipeg on June 29, 1996, and Beverley had an instant family of 4 step-children. Alfred fondly remembers the time, early in their dating days, when he brought Beverley home across the city after midnight, on his bicycle, it was quite a ride.

Beverley retired in 2022 after more than a decade of service at Dinsdale Personal Care Home in Brandon, where she worked as a Housekeeping Aide, and she developed many close friendships with staff and residents. Even after retirement, she continued to accept casual shifts, because she so enjoyed seeing her friends there.

A private and independent person, Beverley never complained, even as she suffered from various pains and aches. She so often went out of her way to make others feel comfortable, bringing warm blankets to patients who were undergoing dialysis at the St. Boniface Hospital, where she once worked in that department as a Housekeeping Aide. Beverley loved people and found fulfillment in caring for others, both at work and for her husband and guests at their home. She was a fabulous cook, and loved to prepare wonderful, tasty meals, she also enjoyed singing for friends and family. She had a soft spot in her heart for Alfred’s nephews Dexter and Jason, and for her pet cats, Pepper and Blue. Beverley delighted in giving gifts to family and friends that sometimes seemed odd, but were practical.

Outwardly, Beverley could be reserved, but she was passionate about the Winnipeg Jets hockey team, and she enjoyed watching whatever NHL hockey games were on Saturday night TV. She rarely missed an episode of her favourite TV soap opera, The Young and The Restless. She enjoyed reading in the gossip magazines about the comings and goings of British Royalty and TV celebrities.

Beverley is lovingly remembered by her husband Alfred Chatwell; brother-in law Brian Chatwell (Ella Zettergren); her sisters-in-law, Laura Allen and Sharon Chatwell; step-children, Cindy, Dale, Daniel (Christina), and Adam Panioyak (Nuka). Also mourning her are her sisters, Louise, Cynthia (Jimmie Stewart), Daphne, Carmen, and Rema Newman; as well as her nieces, Ingrid, Gillian, Tonia; and nephew Wayne. Also grieving are Alfred’s nieces, Lana, Tanis, Michelle; nephew Aaron; grandchildren, Cory Chatwell (Ranée Dong) and family, Shauntay Bolt (Ethan Aleekuk) and Caleb Bolt; and great-grandchildren, August, Liam, and Liv Chatwell; and in Kugluktuk, Nunavut, Alfred’s great-granddaughter Oaklyn.

The family would also at this time like to thank Brandon’s First Responders, the attending doctor and staff in the Emergency Department at Brandon Hospital, the crew members of Stars Helicopter Ambulance who transported Beverley to the St. Boniface Hospital and the Cardiac ICU team at St. Boniface Hospital for their tireless efforts in trying to save her life. Thank you to Ethical Death Care for their assistance in this very difficult time, it is so appreciated. Also thank you to Salvation Army Pastor Major Shelly Rands who will be officiating the celebration.

On January 9th, there was a small private viewing for the family to mark Beverley’s passing, she has been cremated. There will be a Celebration of Life in Beverley’s memory on Sat. 12 July 2025, between the hours of 2:00 and 5:00 PM in Brandon at the Royal Canadian Legion Banquet Hall, off Victoria Avenue East at 560 – 13th Street East. It is hoped that many family members, friends and former co-workers will join us in celebrating Beverley, who was a beautiful and caring woman.

Beverley’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Regretfully, I forgot to include that Bev will also be missed by her niece Davina (Pooh) Glanville, who also was with the family to mourn Beverley.

Bev's passing was a shock to me as we spoke few days before her passing. After a long time of no see or talk. Bev was my co-worker at Dinsdale care home in Brandon. She treated me as a sister and a daughter. I become a friend of her dear husband Alfred after she introduced me to him to show me around Brandon and help me with some driving lessons. After that, Alfred has been a close friend of my family. Bev was a reserved and respectful person. She was a hard-working lady and will always help me out when I am struggling with my work. May the Lord grant her eternal rest. My condolences to her husband Alfred and his family

I only met Beverly twice, but on both occasions I found her to be a very warm, and genuine woman.

It is hard to lose someone you love, especially in our golden years.

My deepest condolences go to Aldred, his family, and all Beverly's family.

She will be greatly missed.

God Bless you Beverly.

May you rest in peace in the arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Until we meet again.
