MAUREEN PASKARUK

March 8, 1964 – March 18, 2025

We are sad to announce the unexpected passing of our mom, Maureen Paskaruk, on March 18, 2025 at the age of 61.

She was predeceased by her mother, Mary Van Santen; her sister, Nancy Van Santen; and her brother, Raymond Van Santen.

Maureen leaves behind her husband, Tim Paskaruk; sister, Annie Van Santen; daughters, Tabitha (Daniel) Candace (Les), and Melanie (Kyle); her grandchildren, David, Cashtin, Bryan, Arianna, Colton; and her fur grand babies, Rex, Zeus, and Casper.

Maureen grew up in the north end where she lived all her life, where she went to Strathcona school and met her future husband, Timothy Paskaruk. The two were inseparable since grade 5 until she passed. They got married October 27, 1984.

Maureen would share with anyone that her biggest accomplishment in life was becoming a baba. She would never hesitate to pull out her phone and show anyone numerous pictures of them. Maureen was beyond proud to be their baba. She loved her grandchildren more than anything.

Maureen was known to many as the "Butter Tart Lady". Everyone wanted her butter tarts around the holidays. The were loved by everyone. She even made her girls special batches with no raisins! Maureen also had a passion for knitting and sewing. She made most of her girls’ clothing when they were growing up. She continued to perfect her craft and made blankets, slippers, and tons of hand towels. She was always ready with a needle in hand when her girls needed her.

Though your journey through life has been difficult, may the journey you take now be a peaceful one. We love you, rest now mom.

Our family would like to thank the Winnipeg paramedics and the staff at Health Science Centre for taking care of our mom.

Mother,

You left us beautiful memories,

Your love is still our guide.

Although we cannot see you,

You're always at our side.

Maureen’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

My condolences to family and friends.

We worked together on and add over the years. I always enjoyed working with her and chatting about our current knitting and crochet projects, sharing pictures of what we had managed to complete recently

This is a condolence for Timmy and their 3 daughters.
Maureen wore many hats in school and in life. I didn't know she sewed the kids outfits when they were growing up. She was on the yearbook commitee and played handbells in High School. I called her my friend/math tutor. My Mom and I each received a pair of her slippers. Two things I will always remember: she always read her Archie Comics during most meals and she loved her Slurpees! She will be sadly missed.

I'm so sorry to see this. I worked at Shoppers on Redwood and Main and got to know Maureen quite well. Her hubby was always there , picking her up after her shift. I also had the pleasure of working with her daughters, both Shoppers Drug Mart employees as well.

Deepest sympathys to the whole family, may she rest in peace.
