STEPHEN PAWLUK
January 8, 1960 - April 21, 2023
It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Stephen Pawluk, too soon at the age of 63, on Friday, April 21, 2023.
Steve was born on January 8, 1960 to Michael and Olga Pawluk. He was an inquisitive child who kept everyone in the family on their toes and this became a defining trait. Steve had four passions in life; eating, sleeping, fishing, and golfing. He enjoyed each to the absolute fullest. Steve also never met a stranger and loved regaling everyone he met with tales to amaze and bemuse.
Steve began work at the Winnipeg Free Press in 1977 and remained there until a cancer diagnosis forced his early retirement in 2021.
He was predeceased by his father Michael. He will be forever missed by his mother Olga; siblings, Linda, Michael (Diane), and Jody (Curtis); nephew David (Karli); niece Jennifer; great nieces, Hailey, Kaitey, and Miley; brother-in-law Richard; and best friend Ken Kalynchuk and family.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and thanks to the staff at Riverview Health Center for their endless patience, kind attention and gentle care in Steve's final days.
Vichnaya Pamyat
In accordance with Steve’s wishes a memorial will not be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba.

Olga and family,
I don't know how I missed seeing this in the WFP three years ago. I happened to have seen it today and I have to say, this is very sad to have read.
Even though this is three years after the fact no doubt you think of Steve and miss him everyday so please, my sincerest condolences to you and the entire Pawluk family.
Even though I didn't know Steve as well as his brother Michael (since Mike and I are the same age and thus in the same grade in school) I fondly remember Steve being around when all of us neighborhood kids played in the area. And of course, years later when he would be with you when you stopped by our bookstore to shop. He always popped in to say "Hi" and chat for a few minutes.
May your family and friends continue to be a source of comfort those days you miss him most.
Kevin M - an oldtime neighbor from Emerson
