IRENE BRENDA PEARCE

November 12, 1933 – July 2, 2026

Irene passed away on July 2, 2026, in St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 92. She will be missed by all that held her dear.

She is survived by her children Ken (Candace), Ted (Cheryl), Scott, and Kelly; grandchildren Brock (Catherine), Breanne (Nicholas), Serena, Stephanie, and Rachel (Luke); siblings Marge, and Linda (Jim). Irene was predeceased by her husband Maurice.

November 12, 1933 - Irene’s parents Jessie and Red Hamlyn gave birth to Irene. Thereafter there will always be a party! Red & Jessie, what a clever pair.

Irene had two sisters, Marge and Linda. Somewhere in the range of 10 years apart, they managed to keep connected.

The first time Irene laid eyes on Maurice he was on a motorcycle weaving in and out of the lines painted on the asphalt, Red Hamlyn was not impressed with that motorcyclist that mom would eventually marry. But Maurice Pearce it was (also known as Pearce-y). They celebrated 60 years together before dad passed.

Ken, Ted, Scott, and Kelly all have unique memories of their mother and their time with her.

Irene leaves behind wonderful nephews, and a multitude of grandchildren. There’s quite a list.

Irene was the Chief Fitness Instructor at Sargeant Park Sports Complex. She was quite proud of being one of the first people to offer water aerobics in Winnipeg.

Photo evidence of her group of friends, is overwhelming.

She loved country music – we grew up on it; you can count on the classics every time.

She took some great trips – there’s triple copies of most vacation photos!

She had some sayings that we’ve all heard a hundred times. I’m sure you will think of them from time to time and smile.

She wanted friends and family to know that she loved them all.

She learned some of life’s lessons. We are thankful for the one’s she did.

A remembrance will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 1015 St. Anne’s Road in the Seine River Retirement Center. Light refreshments will be offered.

Cremation has taken place, with a private burial to follow.

Special thanks to St. Boniface Hospital, the Seven Oaks Renal Clinic, WRHA Homecare, the Medicine Shoppe, Polo Park Hearing, Dynacare Home Services, and Staff at Seine River Retirement Center for their truly exceptional care and dedication.

Although our paths had not crossed for many years, I have many fond memories of Irene when she was my mother-in-law. Her dedication to her grandchildren Brock and Breanne was outstanding even during difficult times. Participating in a Pearce family meal certainly gave one lots to talk and laugh about. My condolences to all who knew and loved her.
