Armand Pelland

ARMAND PELLAND
October 17, 1946 – August 19, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Armand Pelland on the evening of August 19th, 2025, at the age of 78 years.
Armand is survived by his wife Helen; daughter Jennifer (Trevor); and his two grandchildren, McKenna and Niall. He is also survived by his siblings, Lucille (Denis), Henri (Irene), Maurice (Dolores), Aline (Gilbert); and many nieces and nephews.
Armand was predeceased by his parents, Albert & Georgianna; and siblings, Bertrand, Paul, Jacqueline and Therese.
Armand held many jobs throughout his life, but his job at the City of Winnipeg was where he thrived. He loved every part of his job; most importantly his co-workers, many who became lifelong friends long after retirement.
Armand loved music. He was an established guitar player (a skill that seems to run through the family) and his gift for spontaneously creating songs (most with colourful language and naughty themes) made everyone laugh. Along with his colourful songs, Armand was full of stories. Stories from his youth, teenage years and adult life, showed he lived a full, exciting life.
Armand was a nature lover. During his summers at his trailer at the Oasis, he kept all the wildlife, both big and small, in the park fed and coming back for more. He and Helen owned many cats over the years, each one more spoiled than the last.
His greatest accomplishment was being a husband and a father. Before the birth of Jennifer, Armand helped raise “his boys” Michael (Alyssa) and Richard (Sandra) Henault. His love for his family was unmatched.
He will be greatly missed and remembered by his extensive family and many friends.
An interment, family only, will be held in Pine Falls at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Tails of Freedom Rescue Inc. E-transfers can be sent to: Tailsoffreedomrescue@gmail.com.
Armand’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

GREAT PICTURE OF ARMAND THAT IS THE PERSON WE REMEMBER HAPPY AND HEALTHY LOOKING. ARMAND WAS A FRIEND AND FELLOW WORKER WITH ME AT THE CITY WATERWORKS .HE COULD BE OUTSPOKEN AND DIRECT BUT THAT MADE HIM UNIQUE. ARMAND LOVED HIS FAMILY HIS WIFE AND HIS CONDO WITH CATS INSIDE. MEETING AND MARRYING HELEN TURNED HIS LIFE AROUND AND HE BECAME A GOOD PERSON AND FRIEND . HE ALWAYS TOLD ME HE WAS SURPRISED HE LIVED THIS LONG AND CREDITED IT TO HAVING HELEN IN HIS LIFE. HE LOVED HIS TIME AT THE OASIS CAMPGROUND WHERE HE COMMUTED BACK AND FORTH TO HIS DAY JOB . AS THE PREVIOUS COMMENTER SAID ARMAND WAS ALWAYS SITTING ON HIS CONDO DECK AND WAS GREETED BY ALL PEOPLE PASSING BY. HE ADDED SOMETHING TO THE GAME OF LIFE. MAY THE FAMILY BE ABLE TO MOVE ON KNOWING THAT ARMAND WAS HAPPY AND RAN HIS OWN SHIP WHICH HE DID PRETTY GOOD. IT WAS AN HONOR FOR MYSELF TO BE THERE AT THE END KNOWING THAT THINGS HAPPENED QUICKLY AND HE SUFFERED NO PAIN. HE WILL BE REMEMBERED BY ALL. REST IN PEACE ARMAND YOU DID ALRIGHT.

Some of the memories that stand out for me are times spent at the Oasis with Jen and Armand. The drives there in his truck, singing "The Rodeo Song", brought lots of laughter for us all. I still sing this periodically when hitting the highway!
Your dad was able to make friends with anyone, and that brought new faces around each time we stayed at the Oasis. Whether family, friends, or friends of friends, everyone was charmed by your dad's cool and laid back nature.
He was a funny guy and pulled some good pranks on us. Like the time he said he found sunscreen on the beach and said we could use it. After dousing ourselves in the sticky orange liquid, then falling asleep on that hazy hot day, we woke up nice and crisp, too sore to sit, too sore to stand haha. That's when we learned it was orange crush we sprayed all over ourselves and not the "orange scented" sunscreen we thought we were using. Spent the rest of those days planted in the trailer playing cards, avoiding the sun altogether!
I passed by his condo all the time and would say hello to him from my car. This last week does not feel quite right as I look up to his place when driving by. I am so sorry for this loss; Armand had such a presence that will be very much missed by all who knew him. Love and Hugs to you Jen, Trevor, McKenna, and Niall. My thoughts are with you and all the extended family. Please take care of your hearts.
