ROGER PERRIN
February 8, 1952 – June 18, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness we announce the passing of Roger René Perrin, 74, who left us on June 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Roger was born in Winnipeg on February 8, 1952, to Marie-Jeanne and Georges Perrin. A child of St. Boniface, Roger was the oldest of three, including his sisters Maggie Bouchard and Dianne Léclair. Roger lived a life defined by devotion, generosity and quiet strength.
He is missed terribly by his wife Marilyn of almost 48 years; children, Daniel (Megan), Melissa (Shawn) and Andrea (Ian and his children, Nathan and Mark); and his cherished grandchildren, Elliott and Adley. Roger was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose greatest joy in life was the people he loved. His children and grandchildren were his world, and he poured his heart into every moment spent with them.
After trying his hand in several industries, Roger began his career as a Canada Customs Officer, a role he took great pride in. Training and working as a customs officer sent him to several unique locations such as Iqaluit, in what is now Nunavut, and small-town Quebec, before returning home to Manitoba, first at the Emerson Border Crossing, before manning several posts throughout the City of Winnipeg. Throughout his 22-year career, he was known for his strong work ethic, which he carried with him through to the last position he held prior to retirement at the Winnipeg International Airport.
After retirement, he embraced the simple pleasures of life: time with family, travel, and the comfort of being surrounded by those who meant the most to him. Road trips during the summer months were a popular past time, covering much of Manitoba, Western Canada, and several states. That gave way to his trip of a lifetime to Hawaii with Marilyn, which was one of the great joys of his life, a memory he cherished deeply. Roger was an avid sports fan, with his hometown Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Winnipeg Jets at the top of the list. Roger rarely, if ever, missed games, even when the teams gave him more to complain about, rather than cheer. Even then, he stuck by his teams through thick and thin, further illustrating the passionate fan that he was.
Roger generously donated to local, national, and international charities, while also giving his time, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand to a neighbour in need, even going as far as snowblowing the entire block so the local seniors could get around. Simply put, he always wanted to give back.
Roger loved dogs, particularly his Golden Retrievers. He’d spend hours with Beasley and Boomer, going for walks, playing catch with them, and sneaking them treats. He treated his dogs like he treated the rest of his family: held in the highest regard and his priority above all else.
Some of Roger’s happiest memories were made around the family dinner table: sharing meals, stories, and laughter. He loved food, especially desserts, and always made sure everyone had their favourites. He treasured the joy of having everyone gathered together, moments he looked forward to with all his heart.
Roger will be remembered for his kindness, humour, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the memories he created, and the deep love he leaves behind. He will live forever in our hearts.
In keeping with Roger’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s memory to Cancer Care Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

Indeed, it is with a heavy heart that I learned of Roger's passing. From a baby to adulthood, Roger has always been a loving and caring cousin. In the summer, he would come and spend time in LaSalle with myself and my family. He loved laughing so jokes were the appropriate thing for him. One summer, when Roger came over for a visit, he was due for a haircut. His mother, my aunt asked me if I would give him a haircut. So I did. Even then, he turned it into a joke.
My sincere condolences to Marylyn and family, also to Marielle, Dianne and your families.
May the good memories of Roger that you hold in your hearts help soften the pain that you are experiencing during this most difficult time of your lives.

Our sincere condolences to the family. While I hadn't seen Roger for some time, a member of the Louis Riel street gang is gone and that leaves us pondering this sad moment. Roger, Rick, Tony and I got ourselves into all kinds of "adventures" in our young and foolish days, from hopping on trains to late, late night summer forays into the city on our bikes. As neighbours, we frequently walked to Louis Riel and back over the years. After a very long absence, my wife and I were returning from a trip when I spotted Roger at Customs and said hi. He did not respond which left me perplexed. As we reached the exit gate, a hand clamped on my shoulder. It was Roger who had run up to us to apologize for not being able to acknowledge our friendship while working as a customs agent. A long chat and a coffee ensued.. Although we rarely crossed paths later in life, when we did, it was like we were back in the LR gang.

Beautiful tribute to Roger. We offer our condolences to all the family. We had not really socialized in years, but from time to time I would see Roger when clearing customs. He always had a smile and was a pleasure to see him and exchange a few words. Rest in peace Roger.

I had the opportunity to work with Roger at Emerson and Winnipeg. He was truly a good man. Roger had a good sence of humor and took a joke well. I talked sports with Roger numerous times, and he loved his Bombers and Jets. Roger was well liked by his peers. The world was a better place with Roger in it.....he will be missed. My heart felt Condolances go out to all Roger's friends and family...

Very sad to read of Roger's passing. We grew up on the same street in St B. On ocassion we would walk to school together. He was a funny guy who loved to talk. We had not seen each other in decades when this friendly guy walks up to me, calling me by my first name, talking like we have been friends all along. What a great person! Here's to Louis Riel street!! Rest in peace, mon ami !!!

I was so sorry to see that Roger passed away. I enjoyed meeting and speaking with him and Marilyn on my many trips passing his home walking home from St. Boniface Hospital. His yard, dogs and pleasant conversations were enjoyed by me over many years. After retirement I enjoyed meeting up with him and Marilyn at SuperStore and hearing about their lives. He was a very nice man and was taken too soon. My condolences to you Marilyn and family.

I worked with Roger at CBSA at the airport and loved every minute of the time we worked. He was an absolute gentleman and fun to be around. i Remember one day we were working together and Richard Simmons came off the plane to my booth. He looked over at Roger sitting in the booth next to me and said "I love that man's hair". I am very sorry to hear of his passing and send my condolences to his family. RIP Roger.

We offer our sincere and deepest condolences to Marilyn, Dan, Melissa and Andrea at this difficult time. We also extend our heartfelt sympathy to Marielle and Dianne, their spouses and children.
We had recently reconnected with Roger and Marilyn after several years. Roger was his usual jovial, talkative and personable self. As we reminisce upon those precious moments,we are reminded of how quickly life has raced along. Had it not been for a chance encounter at Superstore, we would not have had the opportunity to see Roger ever again. I thank our lucky stars.
Roger's two grandchildren meant the world to him. He was more than just a candy man to them. His face lit up whenever he spoke of them simply because he loved them so deeply.
The last time I saw my cousin, he and Marilyn stopped in as I was mowing the lawn. I felt his excitement as he was eager to gift us an outfit that Marilyn had knitted for our first grandaughter. Thank you again Marilyn for your kindness.
I will miss Roger forever. We were friends and family. We bonded whenever in each other's company. He will remain one very special and favourite cousin.

My condolences to the entire family on the loss of Roger. I first met Roger's son, Dan, when we entered high school together in 1993. Dan and I became friends pretty quickly. I met the entire family early that first year of high school and they couldn't have been more welcoming! Throughout high school and in all the years after, whenever I had the opportunity to visit the Perrin's it was always a warm and inviting visit. Be it for a dinner for Dan's birthday, or a stop after a Bomber game or even to give my 2 cents worth and offer a helping hand with a lawnmower or snowblower wouldn't start, stopping in with Roger and Marilyn was always a good time. I will miss having the opportunity to visit and have a conversation with Roger. My deepest sympathies go out to Marilyn, Dan, Melissa, Andrea and all their families in this very difficult time.
