JEANETTE ROSEMARY PETRIEW

(née TREMBLEY)

May 12, 1947 - December 6, 2024

My Mom peacefully gained her wings as I held her hand on the morning of Friday, December 06, 2024. She was born in Rainy River, Ontario on May 12, 1947. She moved to Winnipeg as a young adult where she lived until her passing.

She was predeceased by her Daddy at a young age Elmer Trembley; her Mum Rosemary MacLaren; her sister Lillian Sandison; her brothers, Marshall and Michael Trembley; and her nephew David Swain.

She is survived by her daughter Brenda; and her son Michael; granddaughter Desiree; grandson Damion; her great granddaughter Emily; her sister Cindy Dudeck and niece Brandy; sister Susan Swain and nephew Christopher; and nephew Timothy Sandison.

Jeanette worked at the St. James #4 Legion for almost 40 years where she made many meaningful relationships. She was a very dedicated and hard worker. Her Mum and Dad were both war veterans, which my Mom was very proud of. We have many memories of socializing at the Legion with my Mom and her friends, and nights of karaoke at my Mom's house after.

My Mom loved Christmas, and prepared all year for it while she was able. So many precious memories were made that will be cherished. My Mom loved her plants, and she had many. She loved playing cards, playing VLTs, collecting old coins and currency, working on her house and yard, and loved her horror movies. She also loved to karaoke to her favourite classic country songs, and loved to hear her son Michael karaoke to Elvis Presley (she always bragged about his singing). Last but not least, she loved her pets immensely.

My Mom was a very friendly and outgoing person which was made more evident to me on our Sunday dinner visits. For 17 years we met every Sunday, and when I would arrive to meet wherever we went that Sunday, my Mom already knew all around us. My Mom often talked about her many road trips she had. She went out East as far as P.E.I, out West as far as Kelowna B.C., out California way to fulfil her dream of seeing Universal Studios and on to Las Vegas. She hated to fly, but her last trip was to Puerto Vallarta Mexico where she truly had the time of her life.

My Mom's last few years were spent living at Riverview Health Center, where she seemed very happy. Even with her dementia, she was able to go on day trips to the Club Regent Casino to play VLTs, to Fort Whyte Center and Assiniboine Park Zoo.

Forever in Our hearts

We love you....Rest in Peace

A special thank you to the Winnipeg Humane Society for helping me with my Mom's fur babies until I could get things sorted out, to Riverview Health Center 3 West staff for your compassion, dignity, and respect caring for my Mom (you are all amazing, beautiful people), my neighbor Randy for all his help and support for the last 5 years of this journey, and to my Aunty Cindy for being there for my Mom and I when we needed you the most.

A service for Jeanette will take place at a later date.

Jeanette’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
