Obituary Photo

DANIEL (DANNY) POLSON

1932 - 2026

Peacefully, on Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the Grace Hospital our beloved brother and Uncle Danny passed away at the age of 94. Danny was born January 10, 1932; one of nine siblings born to Mary and Joseph Polson.

He was predeceased by his father Joseph; mother Mary; brothers, Bill, Peter, Jerry and John; sister Della; brothers-in-law Donald and Billy; and sisters-in-law Charlene and Louise.  He will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed by his sisters, Emily, Jennie and Olga; and sister-in-law Cathy; as well as many nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews.

In his younger years, Grand Beach and boating were Danny’s favourite past time.  Uncle Danny also hosted many Polson family Christmas Eve celebrations over the years and he loved to cut a rug at all of our family wedding celebrations.  Uncle Danny was quite a talented dancer once you got him going!  Danny retired from CN after many years of service, and spent his retirement years helping out his large extended family in any way he could.  He was an expert fixer upper, and if it was broke, Uncle Danny was your guy! The numerous family gatherings were highlights for him.  Gambling trips with his brothers and sisters were also something he looked forward to.

Uncle Danny,

Your gentle, kind spirit and

generosity to others

will not be forgotten.

Daniel will be laid to rest in All Saints Cemetery during a private family graveside service.

The family is very appreciative of Donwood Personal Care Home for the compassionate care given to Danny during his stay.

Uncle Danny cared for his family and was always willing to help in any way he could. My dad mentioned that as kids growing up, pay day for Uncle Danny meant the treat of pies for the siblings.

I have wonderful memories of my parent's cottage in Grand Marais where the Polson family gathered during the summer months. Uncle Danny would bring his boat and take us for rides at Grand Beach. He always had quarters for us to buy penny candy at the corner store, gave his neices and nephews a card at Christmas time and used his mechanical skills to fix various cars.

His siblings were a very important part of his life, they took care of each other as children and as they got older.

Uncle Danny will be missed by everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

I like to think he has joined family that have gone before him and they are all back at the cottage enjoying a Lanky's footlong hotdog and a cold Pepsi.

Thank you for being a good man, we will miss you Uncle Danny.

We did not know Danny personally. However anytime we socialized with the Polson clan and Danny's name was mentioned it was with fondness. His love, support, kindness and generosity always shone through. The video and write up is a tribute to a brother, uncle and great uncle who was much loved by his family. E

Uncle Danny as I have always known him was a very kind, soft spoken, thoughtful man.

He was very shy until he got to know you.

and he loved to tease his sisters.

Sending prayers and love to the entire Polson family.

The pictures capture the love and closeness of the brothers and sisters.

Family is love.

I'm hopeful that Danny passed peacefully in his sleep and is now having wonderful times with his siblings above. Danny was a kind, soft spoken man.

My deepest condolences to the Polson family and extended families of Danny's. So saddening to lose another loved one in such a short period of time. The photo biography was so beautiful. Lots of wonderful memories to cherish.

Uncle Dan helped us fix car problems , house problems and almost everything else . His generosity towards his family showed how much he loved them . I remember at the Christmas gatherings in his rec room he would sneak and set the clock back so everyone would stay longer . He had a huge love for animals as he would always give Jeff's dogs next door treats over the fence and big grey squirrels would stand against his back door and scratch the screen to get his attention . He also loved music and liked aker bilk's stranger on the shore and much of rod stewart 's songs .We will miss his smile , laughter , and easy going nature and someday we will get to enjoy him again . Rest in peace uncle Danny !
