CAROL PREMACK

(née MARTIN)

February 4, 1954 - February 21, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce that after a courageous battle with cancer, Carol passed away on February 21, 2023 in St Boniface Palliative Care at the age of 69.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years Ted; children Vicky (Reyad), Rachael (Cliff), and Matthew; grandchildren Amber (Drae), Samar, Wynn, Autumn, and Liam; a new great- grandson Valentine; brothers Gary (Betty) and Brian (Zuzanna) as well as nieces, nephews and many lifelong friends. Carol was predeceased by her mother Bernice Martin; her father Leslie Martin; mother-in-law Sophie Thompson and father-in-law Mike Premack.

Carol was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, niece, cousin, neighbor, and friend to many people throughout North America, New Zealand, and Australia. It is hard to say in a few words how much she was loved and the beautiful woman she was.

Although Carol's life began in New Zealand, many changes led her to live in "Winterpeg". Regardless of where she called home, Carol was always a Kiwi at heart. She always had pictures of her beloved New Zealand landscape, especially Mount Taranaki. She loved rugby, always enjoyed a good Haka and cheering for her All Blacks, even at 3am. Carol also shared this love of the sport with her family. Carol was delighted to be able to travel to New Zealand and Australia numerous times to meet and visit family. As well, she enjoyed her weekly phone calls from her Kiwi brothers.

Carol was a lover of pets, especially dogs, and always had at least one as an additional family member. Jody, Arnold, Duchess, Casey, Minou, Tipsy, and Zoey will all remember her fondly, and she holds a special place in their hearts.

Carol loved knitting for family and friends until she became unable to. She also loved solving crossword puzzles and watching the daily news (local and national). Carol also loved her flower garden, spending time playing in the dirt, planting new flowers. Greenhouses must have always loved it when Carol, Rachael, and Autumn would go for their annual flower shopping trip. Along with her love for All Blacks rugby, Carol also enjoyed watching her Jets and Bombers play any chance she got.

Carol wore many occupational hats through her lifetime - secretary, hospitality service, accountant, librarian, Bible study leader/teacher, cook, church elder. She had a passion for serving and a heart for God. Carol loved serving and volunteering whenever possible. Some of her passipns she supported included Siloam Mission, Samaritan's Purse, Main Street Project, Kiva, Forward House and she was active in her local church sponsoring a refugee family to Canada.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at St Boniface Cancer Care as well as Palliative Care unit for the care given to Carol and the compassion they extended to us in her final days. Carol's journey with pancreatic cancer was long and so many people were involved with her care, however; the family would like to make special mention of Natasha, Jenica, Allison, and Loida.

A celebration of Carol's life will take place on Saturday, March 11th at 10:30am with luncheon to follow at The Bridge Church, 860 Oxbow Bend Rd (just off the West Perimeter, use the service road entrance off Hwy 1). The family is asking those that attend to please honor Carol by wearing purple.

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, not things present, nor things to come, nor height, not depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate is from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38 - 39"

My deepest condolences to Ted, Rachael and family.  I was so blessed to have had Carol as my mentor and friend.  Like many in the Bridge Church I had the honor of being in her many Small groups,  her knowledge all things biblical was nothing short of amazing.  When you could not understand something Carol was your go to, and if she did not know the answer right away she got back to you at a later time.  Our story lines were similar in many ways.  Even her Mom and Mine look a lot a like in their younger years.  I thank God for allowing me to get to know this lovely soul. She is finally resting in Jesus arms and I can be thankful for that.  I loved you and loved our friendship very much.  Thank you Carol.

Carol was my friend who always knew when you needed a hug, a laugh or strength to carry on. My deepest condolences to Ted, Rachael, Cliff and all the family at the difficult time, please know my thoughts and prayer are with you all. Carols's bible studies were informative, we had fun learning the Bible with her, we had great discussions on different topics and always encouraged us to ask questions. I will miss her terribly. ❤❤❤

Carol was my neighbour for almost 30 years. We shared a love of flowers and plants. She was my go to person to look after my houseplants when I was away on a trip. During Covid we took turns doing pick up from A&W or Joey’s and then eating in our own homes. Teen burger for me, chicken for them, shrimp feast for all of us.  A kinder person would be hard to find. I will miss her Kiwi accent and her smiling face. Lydia

My deepest condolences to Ted, Vicky Rachael, Matt and their families. You are in my thoughts & prayers. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servant. Psalm 116:15 I admired Carol for her strength of character and her faith. I had the pleasure of being in a number of small groups lead by Carol and also had the honor of co-leading a group with her. She was a great mentor and a beautiful friend. I will continue to be inspired by the actions she took and the things she said. She will live in my memories and She will be missed. There is a void in my heart. Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23❤
