DAVID CHARLES PUTTAERT

September 4, 1947 – August 6, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of David Charles Puttaert on August 6, 2026, at the age of 78, at St. Boniface General Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.

Dave will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years, Barbara; his daughters, Angela (Dustin) and Erin (David); his grandchildren, Greyson, Allegra, Jaxson, and Olivia; and his brother, Gary (Brenda). Dave will also be greatly missed by many extended family members and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Kerri Puttaert.

Dave worked hard to earn his degree in electrical engineering from the University of Manitoba. He went on to spend 32 years with Winnipeg Hydro before retiring in 2002. In his retirement, Dave filled his days doing what he loved most—spending time with his family, traveling, golfing, and tackling projects around the house. He was an avid crossword enthusiast who rarely met a puzzle he couldn't solve.

Above all else, Dave’s life revolved around his family, and he loved us deeply. He was the kind of husband and father everyone hopes for. He loved unconditionally, gave generously, and was always someone his family could count on. The 54 years he shared with Barbara were filled with deep partnership, respect and love, setting an example of what a great marriage looks like. As a dad, he gave his daughters a lifetime of guidance, patience, and love, and he brought that same quiet joy and support to his role as a grandfather.

Cremation has taken place and, as per Dave’s wishes, no formal service will be held. The family extends their sincere thanks to the doctors and nurses in the ICU department at St. Boniface General Hospital for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dave may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
