PAMELA DAWN QUINN

(née Kenyon)

January 20, 1976 - September 18, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce Pam’s passing after a 2.5-year struggle with cancer on September 18, 2019, at the age of 43 surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Pam is survived by her wonderful husband Grant, and their precious sons, Ian and Kyle, her parents Ron and Linda Kenyon, her brother Shawn (Danica), Grant’s parents Howard and Marietta Quinn, her grandmothers Lena Unrau and Elena Ruivivar and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandparents Peter Unrau, Mary Kenyon and Grenville Kenyon.

Pam was born and educated in Winnipeg, graduating with her Bachelor of Education and eventually, her Post Baccalaureate in Special Education. She chose to teach in London, England, where she met her husband Grant Quinn. Eight years later, she and Grant moved to Winnipeg, where Pam taught across many schools in the St James-Assiniboia School division.

Pam was a dedicated mother. She treasured her children and valued every moment with them. She loved adventures, travelling across Europe, and of course to South Africa. A few memorable trips with her boys were Spring break ski trips to Banff, summers holidays in the trailer camping and a romantic getaway to Jamaica. The most significant, was a trip to Maui with her husband and boys. This took place during her recovery following the treatment for her initial cancer diagnosis.

Special thanks to Pam’s friends Shanon, Diane, Michelle, Darcy and Stephanie for all their love and support.

Pam was an amazing educator who affected the lives of many students and colleagues. Her calm and empathetic approach when supporting students with high behavioural needs allowed her to lead her colleagues in developing safe, strength-based plans that ensured the child’s dignity and self-worth was a priority.  I was fortunate to have been able to work with Pam as a colleague as well as a fellow student during our Post-Bach program.  My thoughts are with her family during this incredibly hard time.  ❤ Christin MacKay

Pam was a thoughtful, wise and caring educator. I had the great privilege of working with her as she supported our staff to plan for students to be more calm and successful in the school environment at Crestview.  Pam was so insightful; I loved how she always put herself "in the child's shoes" to think about what we needed to do as a school to better respond to each students' strengths and needs.  I learned a lot from Pam; she modeled patience, resilience, and she had a true passion for her work as an educator. My deepest condolences to her family. ❤ Jenness Moffatt

I am sorry I can’t be there today to celebrate a wonderful lady.  Pam was my goalie for so many years in ringette.  She was also a great friend.  Her heart knows no limits and will continue to live with her children in spirit.  I wish her boys grace and love.

So saddened to hear about Pam.  We were the ‘other side’ on your side by side on Blue Lake Bay.  So many terrific memories of our young kids growing up together in such a wonderful close knit neighbourhood. Deepest condolences to all Pam’s family. Love from Carol , David and Susan # 46

Pam... she was one of the first people who welcomed me to Brooklands when I started. She was the resource teacher and she did everything with charisma and positivity. She was an awesome colleague and great friend. She was a great listener and even through tough times, she saw the silver lining. She spoke of how proud she was of both of her boys and their accomplishments and she loved them fiercely. Gone much too soon my friend...you will forever be in my heart. Rest In Peace.  My sincerest condolences to her husband and her children.

Pam had a special way with the kids she worked with and was a very supportive colleague. We shared many laughs together. I especially enjoyed her stories about her boys when one of them did something silly. Pam will be missed by many who loved her. My sincere condolences to her husband and sons, whom she adored greatly.

Pam was the very first substitute teacher I ever booked for my classroom in my first year of teaching at Brooklands. Her gentle but firm approach made her a regular guest in our classroom. It was great to see Pam develop her career in our division and she will be greatly missed by all of her colleagues.
