FERDINANDO (DINO) RAIMONDI

February 28, 1946 – August 13, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dino (Ferdinando) Raimondi, who departed this life peacefully on August 13, 2025 at the age of 79.

He is survived by their wife of 57 years Grazia; children, Gianna Raimondi and Gilda Raimondi (Matthew Johnson); grandchild Mia Cara Johnson; siblings; extended family in Canada and Italy.

Born and raised in Italy, Dino made a courageous journey in 1985 when he immigrated to Winnipeg. His deepest wish was to give his wife and daughters a better future — a choice that would define his legacy of love, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to his family.

With resilience and grace, Dino built a new life while carrying the warmth, traditions, and values of his Italian roots. He was known for his strong work ethic, his gift for storytelling, and his passion for cooking. He also treasured life’s simple pleasures, especially a perfectly brewed espresso and the comfort of a Sunday meal surrounded by family.

Later in life, his heart grew even fuller with the arrival of his cherished granddaughter, Mia. Dino embraced her with the same steadfast love, care, and guidance that had always defined him as a father and husband.

Dino will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who knew him. His quiet strength, generosity, and constant presence left an imprint on every life he touched. He was a man who could always be counted on — ready to help anyone in need.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 22, at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue.

May he rest in peace.

Dino’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

My deepest condolences to you, Gilda, Matt, Gianna, Mrs. Raimondi, and sweet Mia. I am so incredibly saddened to hear about the loss of your wonderful father and husband, Mr. Raimondi.

Gilda has been my dearest friend since we were young, and through her, I was blessed to know your dad. I have such vivid, fond memories of him. I'll never forget calling Gilda back in the day to discuss our club outfits, only to have Mr. Raimondi answer and start *yelling* into the phone! My heart would always stop, convinced poor Gil was grounded *again*! But then she'd come on the line laughing, saying, "Oh no, he just wanted to know what time I was heading out... that's how we talk to... he's not mad at all 😆" It was such a funny glimpse of his protective energy and that special father-daughter dynamic they had.

Later, when Gil started inviting me to family gatherings, it meant the world to me. With my own family so far away in Chile, stepping into the Raimondi home felt like stepping into a warm embrace. Mr. and Mrs. Raimondi welcomed me with such open arms and genuine kindness. Your family dinners became something I truly treasured... moments where I could experience the family warmth I missed so much. Thank you for that incredible gift.

Mr. Raimondi, thank you for everything. Thank you for sharing your home, your table, and your family with me. I loved witnessing your fatherly love you had for Gilda and Gianna. And when little Mia arrived, the absolute joy radiating all over your face – it was beautiful to see.

He created such a warm and loving home, and that legacy lives on in all of you. I am holding you all so close in my heart during this impossibly difficult time. May your cherished memories of his love, "yelling 😜", and that unique protective spirit eventually bring you comfort. Sending you all my love and strength.

With deepest sympathy,

Barb ❤️
