RANDALL “RANDY” RANVILLE

September 20, 1950 – August 22, 2024

With heavy hearts, we announce that Randy passed away on August 22nd, 2024 at Riverview Health Centre, at the age of 73.

He is predeceased by his father Emile; mother Mary; siblings, Brian, Gordon, Rene, Valerie, and Delphine; along with many close friends. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna; children, Rhonda (Jim) and Melanie (Jesse); grandchildren, Anora, Casey, and Violet; as well as his siblings, Stirling, Wally, Errol, Don, Norman, and Donna; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Randy was born in Winnipeg and moved to Eddystone, Manitoba as a baby where he lived until he was 19. His family returned to Winnipeg and moved in next door to the Ham family, where he met his future wife, Donna. They were married in November of 1971 and started their family in 1974.

Randy was a journeyman carpenter and most of his future work involved his trade to some degree, including Property Standards Inspector for the City of Winnipeg. He became a member of the Manitoba Metis Federation in the early days of the MMF and was a proud member his entire life, as well as chairman of the Winnipeg North Local for many years. He completed Metis genealogies for numerous applicants to the MMF, retiring in 2015.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved going for long walks with his wife and best friend, Donna. People often commented that they had seen Randy and Donna walking all over the North part of the city. After his retirement, Randy spent a lot of his free time carving soapstone. Many of his family and friends are fortunate enough to have pieces of his artwork as he gifted more than he sold.

The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Riverview Health Centre for their care and compassion shown to Randy during his stay there.

Randy’s celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 603 Wellington Crescent at Academy Road (Unitarian Church). Reception to follow.

Randy’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Rest well Randy. When I first moved to Winnipeg, you were instrumental in both connecting me with Winnipeg MMF and in working further on my genealogy. I loved stopping by the office on McGregor to see you and have a chat.
