KRISHNA RALPH RATTAN

June 3, 1937 - April 1, 2022

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Mr. Krishna Ralph Rattan on April 1, 2022 at home surrounded by his wife and children at the age of 84 years.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Indra; children Anil (Sharon), Anila (Anthony), Sunil (Hang), Sunila (Mitchell), Kris (Anri); grandchildren Sean, Joshua, Arista, Zoë; and children from his previous marriage Indrani and Reyaz. He also leaves behind siblings, Dipchand, Omela, Shirley, and Ken; many in his inner circle Suzy, Glen, Shiela, Henry, Vidya, Jean, Kevin, Yaz, and Rinko; as well as numerous other cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends in Trinidad, Toronto, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Japan.

Krishna was educated as an electrical technician and had a career in aviation as an air traffic controller in Trinidad & Tobago. He furthered his education in electronics at the Saskatchewan Technical Institute and continued his career in Canada.

Krishna was known as the elder in several familial generations and was called upon often for advice, whether it be technical in nature, or profound. He always offered his opinion with humor and in a positive and encouraging manner. He raised his children with the same values of being generous, thoughtful and caring.

He enjoyed being around his family most and would always welcome a ‘lime’ at the family home. He welcomed anyone that came to his home with a joke, Indra’s food, and an offer of a good drink, regardless of their length of stay. He was blessed with friends and family who lent a hand when he was in need and he was also quick to offer help to anyone in need regardless of their relationship and situation.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at HSC where Krishna adored his two physicians and their kind staff, Dr. Pelltier and Dr. Alarakhia. Gratitude and appreciation also go to the Cancer Care staff at Victoria General Hospital and Dr. St Godard and his palliative care team.

Krishna’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.

Krishna was always a kind, jolly person and he will always be remember for his hearty laughter. Our families shared many good times together at the beachs, rivers and our home limes during their stay in Trinidad. RIP Krish. To Indra and family, stay strong from the Ragoobar's in Trinidad.
