KENNETH “KEN” RAY
June 18, 1953 – February 17, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kenneth "Ken" Ray, who left us on February 17, 2025, at the age of 71. Ken was born on June 18, 1953, to Ernie and Bertha Ray in Swan River, Manitoba. He was raised in the community, surrounded by a large, loving family, being one of twelve children.
In 1974, Ken married Peggy Zell, and together they had two children, Tina and Christopher. After their separation in 1999, Ken met Linda Rasmussen, with whom he shared the next 25 years of his life. They enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, taking road trips, and hosting family and friends at their home near St. Francois, Manitoba.
Ken spent most of his career as a Diesel Mechanic with MidWest Drilling in Winnipeg. His work took him on many adventures, including many trips north to various drilling camps, as well as to Greenland and China, where he participated in drilling expeditions.
Ken had a deep love for the outdoors, often found by the firepit, chopping wood, tinkering in his garage, or caring for wildlife. He cherished time with his grandchildren, playfully teasing them, teaching them how to start a fire, and encouraging them to embrace new experiences. A lifelong wrestling enthusiast, Ken was an encyclopedia of wrestling knowledge, ready to share his passion with those around him.
A self-proclaimed "Jack of all trades, Master of none," Ken had the remarkable ability to fix anything. He was always eager to lend a hand to family and friends, whether it was for home renovations, yard work, or vehicle repairs.
Ken will be deeply missed by his wife Linda; his children Tina (Frank) and Chris; Linda’s children Wesley and Lawrence; his grandchildren Ben, Alex, Carter, Alyssa, and Brandon; his brother Gordon (Bonnie); his sisters Fay (Dawson), Eddie (Delmer), Jean, Elaine (Carman), and Lib (Wayne); as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private family gathering will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association.
Ken’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
