Ray Remillard

JOSEPH (RAY) CYRIL RAYMOND REMILLARD
February 27, 1945 - July 2, 2025
Peacefully on July 2nd, 2025 we said goodbye to our dad, husband, grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his wife Lillian; their sons, Jeremy (Alyson), Kris (Christine); and their grandchildren, Kennady, Ethan, Nikolas, Anastasia, and Stella.
Ray met his wife Lillian of 51 years in St. James and basically never left (6 year stop in Regina) they loved living in their home town of Winnipeg surrounded by family and friends.
Dad was a coach his whole life, whether it was hockey, golf, and of course fishing. He taught every single one of his grandchildren how to fish at the lake.
Joseph (Ray) grew up in Old St. Boniface with his parents Noe and Pearl and his 5 siblings, Annette, Louise, Denis, Elizabeth and Lester.
He spent his early years around every car he could get under the hood of, including his pride and joy drag car "Trouble". He also spent many years in auto sales.
He entered the military and served with the Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada. Stationed mostly in Petawawa as well as a few tours of duty overseas in Cyprus on Peacekeeping missions.
He also spent 25 years plus with the Knights of Columbus serving his church and community.
We will miss his love and passion, all his jokes and the funny faces he would often make. It gives us great comfort knowing he is resting now and no longer in pain. He’s got a rod in the water, a 7-Up in his hand and is surrounded by all the loved ones that have passed before him making them all laugh. If you were lucky enough to know him, guaranteed he made you laugh or giggle for sure!
Service to be held at 4:30pm on Friday, July 25, 2025 at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 202 Harcourt St.
With dad’s love and appreciation for the great outdoors we ask that any donations you would like to make in his memory go to The Manitoba Wildlife Federation.
Ray’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

My sincere condolences Annette on the passing of your brother and as well to the entire Remillard family. It was a long time ago in old St. Boniface that I remember my friend's brother Ray. Man he was tall and yes was always cracking jokes to make everyone laugh! May he now rest in peace.

To pay the most respect to a big brother, is to say thanks for the awesome memories and unconditional love you gave to all of us your whole life. For me, the best days we shared was at a race track trying to make that 68 Chevelle a car nobody want to race against. Everytime I see a Chevelle I think of those great times we had racing together. my love for you is endless, rest in peace BRO

My heartfelt condolences Lillian, to you and all family. I love fishing but moreso the calm of a lake and slowly trolling along shoreline and seeing the wildlife along the shore, in the water, in the trees or in the sky, I can relate. I believe you willl find the same peace and calmness, only ten thousand times morseo where you are now. Thank you for your service as a Knight of Columbus.

Oh dear cousin, I was very sad to hear that you had passed away. I moved away to Alberta in 1981 so we didn't have much opportunity to see you. But I do have fond memories of you. Your awesome smile that literally up your eyes. Hands down, your humour was infectious. You had the lady charm and could dance up a storm. You taught me how how to dance, especially the polka. I was finding you to dance at each polka song, you had me hooked.
Rest in peace with your fishing rod in hand. Look for my Dad, I'm sure he'd love to fish with you.
Love you,
Lorraine Rémillard Bérubé

Ray you have alway been my hero,my protector, you taught me how to dance and when you won a dance contest for the twist you won a big and little trophy, and when you got home mom and dad were having a party and you got me to do the twist you and I matched every one of your moves and then you gave me the small trophy. That’s a moment I'll never forget. But the best thing of all is Im so proud to say you were my big brother and glad you are at peace now. You will be always on my mind and forever in my heart. Rest in peace Ray
