LEWIS WAYNE RISSER

June 19, 1942 – April 27, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father Lewis Wayne Risser, on Saturday, April 27, after a lengthy illness. Lewis is predeceased by his mother June; father Aubrey; loving wife Retta; sister-in-law Carol; and great grandson Jakob. He is survived by daughter Susan (Todd); son Stephen (Grace); sisters, Georgia (Art) and Sandra (Gary); grandchildren, Jeremiah and Amanda, great grandchildren, Max, Christopher, Peyton, Finley, Freyja, and Isabella.

Lewis was born on June 19, 1942 in Seal Cove, New Brunswick, and grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He attended College in Halifax, graduating with a machinist certificate after high school. In January 1961 Lewis joined the Canadian Armed Forces serving proudly for 25 years, retiring with the rank of warrant officer. Lewis and family were stationed in Shilo Manitoba on multiple occasions, but was also posted to Germany, Petawawa Ontario, and St. Hubert Quebec.

Lewis, in his retirement years, enjoyed coffee and cards with his friends at the Sprucewood Wildlife Club. He spent many hours collecting and trading license plates. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years.

Lewis and Retta moved to Noonan New Brunswick seven years ago to be closer to their grandchildren, but returned to Manitoba last year after the passing of his wife.

Extended thanks to the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their compassionate care.

No formal service will be held at this time. Any donations can be made to the Canadian Lung Association, or a charity of your choice.

Lewis’ family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.
