Jim Robb

JAMES (JIM) EDWARD ROBB
May 3, 1963 – May 3, 2026
James Edward Robb passed away peacefully on May 3rd, 2026 at St. Boniface Hospital.
Born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, he was the son of William and Beatrice Robb. Jim grew up in the close-knit community of Leifur, Manitoba, on the Robb family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and deep roots in rural life. He attended school in Amaranth, Manitoba, graduating from Amaranth Collegiate, and later continued his education at Red River College.
Jim built his career in Test Engineering with Unisys. He was involved in the testing and installation of computer disc systems, while also providing repair and maintenance on those systems. His work took him extensively throughout the United States travelling widely to support large-scale implementations. Jim worked across the U.S. on computer installations until 1998.
Together with his former spouse, Lisa Robb, he raised two children, Reese and William, who remained the center of his world long after they had grown. Though illness marked much of their childhood, it never defined the kind of father he chose to be. Even when illness forced him to take a step back from his career, he never stepped back from being their dad. This presence, resilience and deep care shaped their lives in lasting ways, a bond they will carry with them always.
In his earlier years, Jim enjoyed many hobbies and had a true passion for photography, particularly capturing images of wildlife and flowers, finding beauty in nature through his camera lens. However, one of Jim’s greatest passions was fishing and boating, which he loved sharing with his family and the long-time friends he made throughout his career at Unisys. Some of Jim’s most cherished memories—and stories he loved to share—were his fishing trips to Black Lake, enjoyed first with his family and later with his close friends.
Later in life, Jim took great pleasure in exploring many new hobbies, including gardening, cooking, baking, and canning. However, nothing brought him more joy and pride than being a Papa to his two loving granddaughters, Tessa and Maddie. They were the light of life, bringing laughter, energy, and a renewed sense of purpose, reminding him to savor the small, beautiful moments. The memories they created together will remain a lasting source of love and comfort to the girls as they remember their Papa.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, William and Beatrice Robb; and his sister, Gail Robb.
He is survived by his son, William Robb, his wife Michelle, and granddaughters Tessa and Maddie; his daughter, Reese (Amber) Robb; his sisters, Sylvia (Richard) Rogers and Carol Lee (Don) Johnson; his brother, Dennis (Brenda) Robb; special friend Charlene Munroe; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was a proud and devoted Godfather to Heather May, Ricki Lee, and Alysha Dawn. Jim is also lovingly remembered by two very close friends who stood by his side no matter what, Mike Fillmore and Bill Spence.
Jim will live on in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him. The love he had for his family was deeply felt, and it is something that will always be treasured.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 603 Wellington Crescent on Academy (Unitarian Church).

Lovely tribute to Jim. The photo of him as the toddler brought a tear to my eye as I remembered that cute little guy and then thought of the man he became who was as quick whitted as his dad. He will be missed.
