With great sadness, we announce the passing of Michael Ryan Wilfred Roche on April 26, 2025, at the age of 49.

Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his mother, Carol; stepfather Roland; brother Kevin; sister Michelle; nephews, Corey and Hudson; nieces, Olivia and Madison. He was predeceased by his father Ryan Wilfred Roche (2017); grandparents, Wilfred and Edna Roche, and Carl and Stella Bjornson.

Born on November 19, 1975, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Michael had an adventurous and curious spirit, always willing to try new things. He had a gentle, caring love for animals, especially cats, and had many over the years. He enjoyed long hikes and possessed great endurance, which led to his passion for jogging. He was so proud of achieving new personal records.

Michael always enjoyed music and loved listening to his favorites from past and present. He had a special appreciation for lyrics, which inspired his creativity and led him to write poetry. He also had a passion for dancing that started at a young age. At a wedding, he surprised everyone by taking the stage with his Michael Jackson moves—all eyes were on him, and he reveled in the spotlight. That was just the beginning; he danced often and could outdance most people.

Michael enjoyed watching sports, with hockey being his favorite. He was a lifelong fan of the Detroit Red Wings. He also participated in playing hockey, including ice, street, and sponge ball varieties.

Above all, Michael treasured family time, sharing his favourite foods, watching funny videos or movies, and listening to music from the 80s and 90s—he could remember all the lyrics.

He had a great sense of humour and loved to make people smile and laugh. He could make us laugh so hard with his quick, witty humour and silly antics, often using it to lift people up when they were feeling down. Michael was a popular guy, well-liked by many. We will miss your beautiful, infectious smile and big brown eyes that warmed our hearts and brought smiles to our faces.

A private family interment is planned.

The family thanks the awesome staff at Taché Actionmarguerite unit 2ABC for providing such good care, comfort, and companionship, and for giving the family support and reassurance that he was safe and in a good place. Donations may be made to Taché Actionmarguerite or the Humane Society.
