LUIGINA ROMEO

(née Scerbo)

December 28, 1933 – December 20, 2019

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Luigina on December 20, 2019 at the age of 85 years.

Luigina was born in Amato, Italy (second oldest of 5 children) immigrating to Canada in 1961.

In April 1963, she married Domenico and they raised their two children in Transcona.

She was predeceased by her husband Domenico (2002), brother Amadeo, sisters Lina and Giuseppina.

She leaves to mourn her memory, daughter Anna (Mike), son Antonio (Indira), grandchildren Adam (Janelle), Jordan (Catherine), great grandchildren Maxime and Rosalie, brother Achille (Rafaela), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Luigina maintained her independence and still lived in her own home. She had a passion for cooking, especially the traditional Calabrese dishes which we always looked forward to.  Her other special talent was gardening.  Her vegetable garden and flowers were a thing of beauty, always sharing her bounty with family and friends.

The family would like to thank the home care providers for their professionalism and care shown to Luigina, and especially for their compassion when she passed.

Friends and relatives are encouraged share memories, stories, and/or condolences for the family by using the comment section on this page.

In accordance with Luigina’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private family internment will take place in the Spring.

In lieu of flowers and in Luigina’s memory, a donation may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or a charity of your choice.

Riposa in pace Mamma e Nonna.

Dear Anna, Tony and family; what a lovely photo tribute to your mom. My childhood recollection includes many memories of times shared with both your parents. Know that she will never be forgotten. May she rest in peace. I will continue to keep you all in my thoughts and in my prayers. Love, cousin Mary (BC)❤

She will be missed by family and friends. I lived with her and my brother and found her to be compassionate and understanding. Anna and Tony were the love of her life. (Her amazing children.) May she rest in peace. I am sure that she is reunited with all her family in Heaven, and she will be watching over her Family on Earth.  Rest in peace Luigina. Love always.  Your sister-in-laws,  Maria, Concetta e Antonietta.
