JAMES ARTHUR JOSEPH ROSS

March 4, 1994 – July 9, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of James Ross on July 9, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the age of 32.

Born on March 4, 1994, James was born, raised, and remained a proud Winnipegger throughout his life. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 14 years, Laura, and his cherished daughters, Ireland (7) and Olivia (4), who were the greatest joy and pride of his life. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Lisa (Paul), along with many extended family members and countless friends whose lives he touched.

James was predeceased by his parents, Donna and Marcel Ross.

James grew up in St. Vital, where he attended Lavallee School before continuing his education at Dakota Collegiate and later Windsor Park Collegiate. While attending Windsor Park, he began working at Sobeys through a work experience program and was hired for what would become his very first job. It was at Sobeys that he met the love of his life, Laura. They soon began dating and never looked back, building a beautiful life together and welcoming two wonderful daughters, Ireland and Olivia.

James later joined Costco Wholesale, where he dedicated his career and proudly took on many roles over the years, including forklift driver, stocker, and receiving clerk. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to help wherever he was needed.

A passionate sports fan, James was a devoted Winnipeg Blue Bombers supporter and proudly held season tickets for the past four years. He loved watching hockey, was a dedicated Alex Ovechkin fan, and looked forward each season to participating in fantasy hockey with his father-in-law, brother-in-law, and nephew, Landyn.

To know James was to know laughter. He had an incredible ability to light up a room, strike up a conversation with anyone, and make people feel like lifelong friends. His vast knowledge and genuine curiosity meant he could talk about almost anything, and his quick wit left those around him smiling. He was the kind of person who never hesitated to lend a helping hand, asking for nothing in return.

Above all else, James was a devoted husband and father. His family was the center of his world, and everything he did was for them. He treasured family road trips with Laura, Ireland, and Olivia, creating memories that will be cherished forever. James was also a devoted son, lovingly caring for his mother until her passing earlier this year—a testament to his compassion, selflessness, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Though his time with us was far too short, James leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, laughter, and unconditional love. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Our hearts are broken beyond words, but we find comfort in knowing that James’s love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family will live on in everyone who knew him. He will be loved always.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 603 Wellington Crescent on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.

My heart waf filled with sadness upon knowing your passing my dear friend. Gone too soon? Why my brother.

James and I worked together at Sobey's, He was 21 and I was 56 at that time but we got along very well as a co-worker and close friend, We both enjoyed our company and shared a lot of humorous jokes. He would always treat me a cup of coffee and muffins at Tim's accross Sobey's at Kenaston during our work breaks, We never lost communications till he moved to Costco. I'm gonna miss you my brother. Til we meet again.

Man, just wow... When I heard the news this morning it took everything in me to hold it together. James and I have been friends for 20 years, met on YouTube when he was just 12, looking for marathon running advice when he came across my videos. We chatted lots over the years through running, depression and personal struggles to bodybuilding, heart struggles, families, all the craziness of the past decade and most importantly our love for Jesus.

We lived in the same city for much of that time and never got to actually meet in person but, we were always in each other's corner. It broke my heart to see the news... and I went through our messages noticing you hadn't seen the last reels I shared with you and now I know why. The last one that you saw and loved was about the Shroud of Turin. I love that our lives grew parallel and that we were able to watch each other grow and share with each other physically, emotionally and spiritually.

You were still so young with so much love and life in you... Man, the good ones keep going way too young. We will finally meet up and get that big giant bear hug one day up at those pearly gates. Love you lots my dude 👊

I was one of James' teachers at WPC. He was such a joy to have in our classroom. He definitely knew the value of hard work and was always kind to everyone. He was always coming up with ideas for his next adventure. I am sure he was an amazing Dad who loved his family to the moon and back. My sincerest condolences.

There's definitely a void in this world Broksi. Your presence was huge! I'm so glad our paths crossed and I feel blessed that I got to be your number 1 friend :) I will miss seeing you and hearing "I'm living the dream" and me always asking you "how are you always so happy". You're one of a kind James and always will be. Keep watching over those Beautiful ladies you have (all 3). Your light was taken too early - but it will never fade. Rest in paradise my friend
