NICHOLAS "NICK" ROSTOSKY

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of husband, father, Gigi, and grandpa, Nick Rostosky at the age of 79 in Winnipeg Manitoba.

Left to remember Nick, is his wife of 58 years Peggy; sons, Kyle (Tammy) and Tobin (Tracy); his grandchildren, Zachary, Lucas, Paisley; and his sister Elizabeth.

Dad was predeceased by his parents, Dan and Marie Rostosky, as well as sister Ruth.

Dad spent his entire life living and working in Winnipeg. Employed in the distribution industry for over 40 years, dad enjoyed both sides as an employee and business owner. Dad started his career with Bell Kilgour, which lead him to start up his own business, Trimor Products, which he sold to Bunzl Canada where he retired in 2003.

Family was very important to dad, who enjoyed get togethers, for what he called snacks. Dad was the heartbeat that everyone gathered around. No matter what brought everyone together dad could always be seen in conversation on any topic from, politics, to sports, to music. Dad was always listening. He was the first to support those he loved, and made sure that they were given help if they needed it. Dad never asked for anything in return; just that you be respectful and loyal to those you loved, lived and worked with. This was an important lesson that dad taught to many.

Dad was a diehard fan of both the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers. It was heartbreaking for dad to see his Jets leave but he knew they would be back. Over the years of cheering on his Bombers, dad was fortunate to witness a Grey Cup win. He said it was one of the greatest games ever, but for some reason he couldn’t remember why.

One of dad’s passions was playing golf. As one of the original members of Bel Acres GC, dad spent every summer weekend and Thursday night at the club with his friends and sons. One of dad’s best golf moments was finishing as a runner up in the National Crown Life team pro-am tournament held in Edmonton Alberta. The silver platter awarded to them, to this day, was always cherished by dad. He would also tell you that had he made a couple of more putts over the 4 days, they would have been champions.

The family will be forever grateful for having dad as our leader. He has left his legacy not only with his own children and grandchildren, but also his many nieces and nephews. He will always be remembered for his big voice, and most importantly his big heart.

The family wishes to thank the team at St Boniface Hospital for their support during dad’s final days.

At dad’s request, cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Dad, your shadow has fallen as you took your last breath. But know this...
