DOROTHY MARIE ROWAN

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marie, peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Monday, May 17, 2021 at the age of 86 years.  Marie was a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandma, great grandma and great great grandma.  Marie was born on November 20, 1934 in Saskatchewan but has resided and worked in Winnipeg since 1953.

Remaining to forever cherish her memory are her children, Barb, Gail, Kurt (Wanda), Colleen, and Valerie (Brad); grandchildren, Becky, Nathan, Amanda (Les), Wade (Tawnie), Dillon (Donna), Ainsley, Chloe, and Bailey; many great grandchildren & great great grandchildren; as well as siblings, Phyllis, Margaret (Ron), Dennis, Joan, Joanne (Norman).

Marie was predeceased by her husband George; sons Guy & Larry; sons in-law Daniel & David; granddaughter Amber; parents George & Maggie; in-laws Thomas & Ida; siblings Grace, Harvey, Arnold, Leonard, Ronald; many aunts & uncles.

Marie was an avid gardener and had a great love of the outdoors. She loved to bake and cook and shared the love of food with her family. She served her community for many years with her work at the Odd Fellows, Deer Lodge Hospital, and the Shriners Hospital for Children. She had a love for animals and spent many years with her dog Midnight. 

Marie was loved for her kind heart and generosity. She will survive in our hearts forever and she will be deeply missed.

There will be a private family service held at a later date.  In the meantime, Dorothy’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to  share your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Marie may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
