BARRY JAMES ROWDEN

We are saddened to announce the passing of Barry James Rowden on May 27, 2023 at his home.

Left to mourn his passing are son Shawn (mom Carol Reimer), daughter Lisa (mom Pamela Brennan), brothers Tom, Robert, Garry and sisters Christine Sinclair, Lynda Ferguson, Barb Roschuk (Joe), and Sharon McMichael (Vern), as well as many nieces, nephews and longtime friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, Kancil Rowden and Jean Ferguson, brothers James Rowden and Arnold Leventhal, cousin Jim Rowden and niece Laura Blore.

Barry was born and raised in Winnipeg, where he attended Gordon Bell High and Brooklands Collegiate. From there, he attended boot camp at CFB Shilo and then moved on to Trailmobile and Fruehauf where he worked as a trailer mechanic. He was a jack of all trades, working in a variety of industries during his lifetime and most recently in building maintenance and caretaking where he continued until his retirement.

Barry had many stories of the adventures he had over the years that he would share including his spontaneous trips to Kenora as well as spending time fishing and camping. He was a big fan of the Jets and went to the "White Out" celebrations to cheer on his favourite team. He was also a big fan of Primos Wrestling, traveling to different places to see the matches. He also enjoyed watching Highway Thru Hell, Heavy Rescue and last but not least a huge fan of The Curse of Oak Island. His all-time favorite pastime though was meeting up with his friends and family at Robin's or Timmies, where he met and stayed fast friends with many until his passing. Always an animal friend, he was especially fond of "Rosie", a lovable Maltese Shih Tzu cross, who won the hearts of all who knew her. May they continue their friendship together on the other side.

Take the ones you love

And hold them close because there is little time

And don't let it break your heart

I know it feels hopeless sometimes

But they're never really gone

As long as there's a memory in your mind

So now go do the best things in life

Take a bite of this world while you can

Make the most of the rest of your life

Make a ride of this world while you can

"Hold On to Memories, by Disturbed"

A Celebration of life/get together will be held at a later time.

If friends so desire, donations may be made in Barry's memory to a pet rescue of your choice, CancerCare Manitoba or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

I knew him along time ago and we were engaged. Something made me look him up today. Sorry to hear of his passing.

Sorry for posting so late. Our condolences to everyone. I met Barry at the Robin's 30+ yrs ago, making his coffee on the daily,  we had good laughs and some cries, but not because we were sad we just laughed to damn hard.....we had many adventures over the years with our coffee friends and I know he's probably "chewing the fat" somewhere with our dearly departed  coffee friends. and I believe  they're all watching over the rest of us here. He watched our family grow , my family was very fond of Barry...We may not have seen too much of him over the last year or so but I will miss " Grandpa" as my kids would call him, and hugs from him and his funny ways of making funny voices & faces while he dished out some Banter. He was a Gem. & a true friend.  Rest In Peace Barry ❤ TO Barry's Family Please find comfort during this difficult time.❤

Barry was always the life of the Party wether it was a Wedding , Social, gathering or just going for a good old coffee.  Barry always had an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on. I've known Barry for a good 25 yrs plus and knowing someone for that long isn't just a friend, but they become part of your family. I'm glad we got to hang out and shoot the shit at wrestling, it was a fun time. Stopping by Tim's for a coffee just won't be the same without you Bud.  Rest in Peace my friend. ❤️ Sue
