Phyllis Roznowski
PHYLLIS MARGARET ROZNOWSKI
(née JURY)
September 15, 1946 - September 20, 2024
Phyllis Margaret was born the middle child to Walter and Eva Jury, joining the family on September 15, 1946. She was born in Neepawa, Manitoba and grew up on the family farm 7 miles west of Plumas, Manitoba. She attended a country school for her primary years at Florence School until it closed and she was moved to Plumas School. The family moved to Thompson, Manitoba in 1962 where she finished school. Upon completion of her schooling, she moved to Winnipeg and began working at the Motor Vehicle Branch. While enjoying city life she met the love of her life Jim Roznowski, and they were married on September 5, 1970.
They spent the first couple of years of married life in Winnipeg before moving to the farm in Valley River, about 12 miles West of Dauphin, MB. While living in Dauphin, Jim and Phyllis found peace sitting under the sounds of the gospel. On March 18, 1975, they stood to their feet together to express their desire to serve God and have a Godly home. Phyllis was true to her choice and kept faithful enjoying the special privilege of having a Sunday morning meeting in their home and, even gospel meetings on occasion. She continued to serve God despite life’s daily struggles and through declining health always having a special part in the meetings and enjoying having fellowship with others.
While in Dauphin they started their family. Jason was born in April of 1975 and Brenda in April of 1976. Phyllis loved being a Mom and spent time raising Jason and Brenda while being a farmhand to Jim. In 1977 Brenda got sick and lost her vision and her hearing. Phyllis was attentive to Brenda’s needs both in the hospital and when they brought her home. She devoted her life to making sure that Brenda’s needs were met in the community that they lived in so that Brenda could grow up in a loving home. The people that worked with Brenda became part of the family to Phyllis and Jim throughout their years and different homes.
In 1990 they moved to Flin Flon where she enjoyed having an open home for fellowship, working in the family business and building a strong support system for Brenda. They eventually moved into their home on the lake in 2000 where they hosted many family and friends and where she could be found making homemade perogies and cabbage rolls, fishing, cheering on the odd water fight, watching wildlife come up on her deck and spending time on the lake. She would often be found outside enjoying working in the yard, gardening and tending her flower beds and in the winter evenings she would listen to the hockey games. She loved working with her hands creating quilts, doing needlework, knitting and doing puzzles. She took time to teach others such as her granddaughters and those that worked with Brenda how to craft.
Their final move was to Winnipeg in 2013. Phyllis began to experience difficulties with keeping her thoughts organized and managing daily tasks but the things that mattered most continued to matter most. She moved to Deer Lodge Center in 2022 where she lived until her passing on Sept 20, 2024.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Jim Roznowski; her son Jason (Brenda) Roznowski of Neilburg, Saskatchewan; daughter Brenda Roznowski of Winnipeg, MB; 4 grandchildren, Denaya (Myron) Loptson, Landen, Sierra, and Jalyssa Roznowski; and one great grandson Theo Loptson. Phyllis is also survived by her sister Loise Fedak; and sisters-in-law, Edna Jury, Jean Kuchar, and Diane Roznowski; as well as multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Walter and Eva Jury; mother and father in-law, Mike and Mary Roznowski; brother George Jury; brothers-in-law, Barry Fedak, David Roznowski, and John Kuchar; and granddaughter Kayla Roznowski.

Jim and family ..my thoughts have been going your way before Phyllis's passing and after we heard....A great comfort to know Phyllis lived her Bible and the wonderful fellowship she was a part of...Of course the human ties are broken which brings a sorrow. We know God will comfort your hearts...with care Louise C...

I first met Phyllis and Jim when asked to provide an assessment of their daughter. Brenda. It soon became apparent what Brenda and Jason meant to both of them. I was privileged to get to know them and their family. Phylls along with Jim were decitated to ensuring Brenda had everything she needed and deserved. . I will always remember Phyllis bringing her pierogies, treats and other food for all of us involved. She demonstrated consistently how much she loved and cared for her family and those around her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family as they deal with this huge loss to their family. ❤️
