CAROL ROZNOWSKY

Carol Roznowsky was a caring daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, friend, niece, and much, much more.  She left this world suddenly at her home on April 18, 2021 at age 51 due to heart failure caused by covid-19.

Carol was one of six children, born on August 13, 1969 in Winnipegosis, Manitoba, to Nick and Norma Roznowsky (nee Bretecher), who have both predeceased her.  Nick was a school bus driver and Norma was a homemaker.  Carol grew up in Waterhen, MB for most of her young life and later moved to Winnipeg for most of her adult life.  She attended Waterhen Elementary School and then moved to Dauphin to attend Dauphin Regional Comprehensive Secondary School.  Carol worked as a dish washer at Salisbury House for many years while living in Winnipeg.

Carol is survived by her three sisters, Jacquie (Paddy), Marilyn (Rob), Susan (Rob); two brothers, Craig (Iona), and Cory; and her nephews, nieces, and great-nephews, Colleen, Amanda, Katie, Sean, Arista, Kian, Cody, Levi, Martina, Erica, Alice, Theodore and Sebastian.  All of these she loved and touched deeply.

Carol had a tough start to life when she was born with the umbilical cord around her neck.  As an adult she was struck by a car and was in a coma for several months and sustained a severe head injury.  Carol suffered many health issues over the years, but no matter what life’s challenges, Carol always remained strong and an independent woman.  She lived on her own and by her own terms.

She loved to do puzzles, word searches and Sudoku.  Carol loved to collect unicorns and key chains.  If you visited a place, she wanted a key chain from that place and always offered to pay for it.  Her favorite TV show was The Walking Dead.  Carol had a deep love of animals and although she didn’t have a pet of her own, she always loved any pet that her siblings had as her own.  She also loved babies and holding them when she could.  Carol loved to talk on the phone, she loved having a cell phone, and would spend hours talking with her siblings or her mom when she was alive, or anyone who would chat with her.  Wish we could chat on the phone right now Carol!

Her siblings paid this tribute to her: “Carol was a kind-hearted, soft-spoken person.  She loved to help others in any way that she could.  And if you were to ever give her a ride home from an event, you were sure to share an ice cream with her, being her treat in appreciation and in kind return.  Carol will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.”

A funeral service will not be held at this time.  A celebration of Carol’s life will be set at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society or to the charity of your choice on her behalf.

Your life was a blessing, Your memory a treasure.
You are loved beyond words, And missed beyond measure.
