(née TURENNE)

C’est avec profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Jeannette Ruest (née Turenne), survenu le 26 novembre 2023, à Winnipeg, à l’âge de 75 ans. Elle laisse dans le deuil son cher époux Paul, ses enfants Jean-Marc (Hélène), Guylaine (Norbert), Gaétan (Andréa) et Joël (Rachelle), ses petits-enfants Dominique, Sylvain, Pascal, Amélie, Mathias, Thomas, Tristan, Alissane, Claudia, Sandrine, Alexandre et Jacob, ses frères, sa sœur, ses beaux-frères et belles-sœurs, et de nombreux parents et amis.

 

Née à Saint-Pierre-Jolys, Jeannette a habité de nombreuses années à Sainte-Anne-des-Chênes, où elle et son époux Paul ont élevé leur famille, avant de déménager ensemble à Winnipeg. Rien ne lui était plus précieux que sa famille, et surtout ses petits-enfants, avec qui elle pouvait passer des journées entières à jouer des jeux et cuisiner, et les bercer dans ses bras.

 

Jeannette a touché la vie d’innombrables familles par son travail dévoué d’enseignante et de conseillère d’école, et en tant que bénévole à la Villa Youville. Les gens de tout âge et de toutes circonstances qui venaient à connaître Jeannette se confiaient à elle grâce à sa grande capacité d’écoute et sa façon de mettre les gens à l’aise. Bien qu’elle offrait souvent de bons conseils, elle savait aussi tout simplement écouter. De nature douce et sage, avec un sens d’humour subtil et aigu, elle avait également le don de savoir ce qu’on avait besoin et de l’offrir sans qu’on n’ait à le demander.

 

Le départ de Jeannette laisse un vide dans nos cœurs, mais elle nous laisse également sa force, son amour, son empathie et son dévouement envers le bien-être des autres.

 

Une messe funéraire, suivie d’une réception, aura lieu à 14h, le mardi 5 décembre 2023, à la paroisse des Saint-Martyrs-Canadiens (289 avenue Dussault, Winnipeg).

With great sadness we announce the passing of Jeannette Ruest (née Turenne) on November 26, 2023, in Winnipeg, at age 75. She is survived by her loving husband Paul, her children Jean-Marc (Hélène), Guylaine (Norbert), Gaétan (Andréa) and Joël (Rachelle), her grandchildren Dominique, Sylvain, Pascal, Amélie, Mathias, Thomas, Tristan, Alissane, Claudia, Sandrine, Alexandre and Jacob, her brothers and sister, in-laws and many family and friends.

 

Born in Saint-Pierre-Jolys, Jeannette lived many years in Sainte-Anne, where she and her husband Paul raised their family, before moving to Winnipeg. Nothing was more precious to her than her family, and especially her grandchildren, with whom she could spend entire days playing games and baking, and cradling them in her arms.

 

Jeannette touched the lives of countless families through her dedicated work as a teacher and guidance counselor, and as a volunteer at the Villa Youville care home. People of all ages and from different backgrounds who met Jeannette quickly trusted and confided in her. A kind and wise person, with a subtle and sharp sense of humour, Jeannette had a knack for knowing and offering exactly what people needed in difficult times. A natural counselor, she knew when to offer brief words of wisdom, and when to simply listen.

 

Jeannette’s passing leaves a void in our hearts, but also inspires us through her strength, her love, her empathy and her devotion to the wellbeing of others.

 

A funeral Mass, followed by a reception, will take place at 2 pm on Tuesday December 5, 2023 at Saint-Martyrs-Canadiens Parish (289 Dussault Ave, Winnipeg).
