LEO JOSEPH RAYMOND SALTEL

January 29, 1962 – February 25, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce that Leo Saltel passed away on February 25, 2025, at Bethesda Regional Health Centre, Steinbach, MB, at the age of 63.


He is survived by his wife of 37 years Yvonne Saltel; daughter Jeanne Saltel (Dom); their children, Owen and Ezra; sons, Eric Saltel (Chanelle) and their daughter Allessia, and Ronald Saltel (Sierra); siblings, Juliette Brandt (Andrew), Albert Saltel (Debbie), Ephrem Saltel (Carol), Angeline Geiger (Roland), Georgette Vagi (John), Michel Saltel, and Germaine Foubert. Also left to mourn Leo are many of his nieces and nephews from both sides of his and his wife's family, his friends, and wonderful neighbours.


Leo was predeceased by both parents, Henri Saltel and Albertine Saltel (née Gauthier); siblings, René Saltel (Dorothy), Norman Saltel (Marie Florence), Florent Saltel (Georgette), Florence Bourgouin (née Saltel) (Rene), Marie Bourgouin (née Saltel), and Peter Foubert (Brother-in-law); father-in-law Elzeard Vien; mother-in-law  Adeline Vien (née Desrosiers); sister-in-laws, Florence Lavoie (née Vien) and Lorraine Furet (née Vien); and brother-in-law Emile Vien.


Leo was born on January 29, 1962, at St. Boniface Hospital, when he was old enough to work on the farm he helped with chores, such as milking cows and other duties. Leo started to take pride in the cemetery at the age of ten and continued with his dedication into his adult life. He was an electrician by trade working for the city of Winnipeg until he retired. 


He enjoyed to woodwork; creating things like games, bird houses and other Knick-knacks. After retirement Leo spent most of his time picking up scrap to sort and up cycle. 


He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren, playing card games especially a good game of Crib. He enjoyed using his wittiness to create a good time with laughter and happiness.
