JULIANA TAMANG SANCHEZ

August 17, 1922 - September 28, 2020

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the passing of Juliana Tamang Sanchez on September 28, 2020 at the Grace Hospital, at the age of 98.

Juliana was predeceased by her husband Andres, children Remijio, Angelito, Emilyn, Robert & Nilo, and grandson Jonathan.

Juliana was born on August 17th, 1922 in San Pablo, Isabela, Philippines. She was a keen and bright student, mastering both the English and Spanish languages in school. She excelled in anything she put her mind to. At the young age of 16 Juliana married Andres Sanchez, and they built a life together moving throughout the Philippines to follow his military career, finally settling in San Mariano, Isabela with their 10 children. Widowed at the young age of 40, Juliana showed resilience and perseverance, always keeping her family together in spite of the challenges they were faced with. In 1977 Juliana immigrated to Canada to join her children. In Winnipeg she built a new life for herself, and found enjoyment in creating beautiful hand-knit creations, playing scrabble, rooting for her beloved Toronto Blue Jays, and watching her grandchildren grow up.

Left to cherish her everlasting memory are her children, Nita (Bob), Zenaida, Constancio, Wilfredo (Rose), & Joyce (Florencio), daughters-in-law Remy, Aurelia and Carmen, grandchildren Jun, Juliet (Sean), Robert Jr. (Bonnie), Mark (Sonja), Marizen, Ricky, Jennifer (Rolf), Celeste, Anthony (Terumi), Jafar (Elisa), Lisa (Geordie), Nathan (Melanie), Oniel, Rosemarie (Jared), Crystal (Rocky), Carissa, Julian, Joy (Gary), & Jyson, as well as 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Thank you to the ICU staff at the Grace Hospital who treated her with dignity and compassion during her final days, and a special thank you to her son Constancio and grandson-in-law Geordie who cared for her daily in her final years, and always kept her with a full supply of Kit-Kats.

Juliana's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. They also encourage the sharing of photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Due to current restrictions a private family viewing will take place, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Gerard’s Parish.

Dearest Grandma, Thank you for everything you have done and meant to me and all those that were lucky enough to be touched by your strong and loving soul. Some of my earliest memories involve you, whether it being you giving me piggy back rides to school or bribing me to eat my eggs with extra Flintstone vitamins.....etc. I will always cherish all the times I had with you but definitely appreciate the times you had to set me straight for doing something really stoopid! (Like running away instead of napping or getting my head stuck in the railing...etc) I am sad for us down here and my condolences especially go out to your children but am happy that now you are with all your loved ones up there. Say hi to them all for me especially my Pops, Robert Sr. Pls n thx! In any case, this isn't goodbye....more like see you later when I'm fortunate enough to. Rest in Paradise, my dearest Grandma. Love ya long time!❤ PS Go Jay's i2

I still remember the days when we used to go together to attend the Sunday mass in San Mariano Catholic church. You are very kind and generous to our family. Though you are gone, your memories still remain in our thoughts and prayers. You are now in a happy place with no pains and sufferings. Rest in Peace Auntie. My family wish to convey our heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.
