BILL SANSREGRET

1955-2020

On Saturday, the 12th of September, William Sansregret passed away suddenly at his home and was reunited with his Creator.

Bill is survived by his loving siblings Charlene Braun and Christopher Sansregret (his partner Keith Thomas), his brother in-law Paul Braun, his niece Kristina Braun and his nephew Alex Braun (also his wife Geraldine Lee). Bill is also survived by numerous cousins and Aunt Marg Barrett. He was predeceased by his parents William Sansregret (senior) and Alberta Sansregret, and his grandparents Albert and Frances Barrett.

Bill was the oldest of three children and he spent his entire life living in different neighbourhoods in Winnipeg. He spent most of his younger years in Elmwood, before settling in to his much beloved neighbourhood of St. Boniface later in life.

He was a lifelong musician and teacher of guitar. He sparked the love of playing a musical instrument in countless students across the city. Always patient, he fondly remembered the students he had taught even many years later.

Bill was an accomplished musician who could play many different instruments. He could also play many different genres of music. Starting when he was a young man and onwards into middle age, he played rock and roll. In his later years, he much preferred to play classical music.

Later in life when Bill moved to Marion Street, he became deeply involved in his new community. He was on the board of the tenant association, helped organize the food bank and also the seniors active club. Bill was always grateful for his new neighbourhood and community, and actively made an effort to better the lives of those around him.

These were accomplishments that proved what a kind hearted person Bill was. Like all great teachers, Bill was a shining example of how you never stop practising, learning, growing and contributing to make the world a better place.

From Alex:

Uncle Bill, I will always and forever be grateful for the time we spent together.

Your influence on me has forever changed my life for the better.

The kindness and love you gave me is alive in my words and actions to all my students, friends, family and each new person that I meet.

It is because of your influence that I am positive that you live on in this material world and that our Creator, who you now sit with, is proud of the life you lived.

We will always be connected, Uncle Bill, and I will forever love you and hold you in my heart.

God bless.

In lieu of a funeral service, we ask you to keep Bill in your memories and hearts.

Take time to be kind and help someone out, as we are sure that is what Bill would have wanted.

Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called.

So sorry to learn Bill has moved on. Many great memories of his guitar playing in a couple of bands I worked for in Winnipeg when we were in our early 20’s. My condolences to his family.

Memories of Bill and your mum and dad saturate my mind from late childhood til just about present day.  Bill never treated us like the annoying teenaged girls we surely must have been.  He was very kind and thoughtful and generous.  I am very glad to have known him.  I know he and Bill Sr are jamming while your mum sits and admires the music...Anton is in the corner making lace x

Bill was a great friend to me, my wife, and our children.  I first met him thirty years ago when I started to take guitar lessons, and we have kept in touch throughout the years.  He was incredibly kind and patient, and an amazing teacher.  Words cannot begin to describe how much we will miss him.

Bill was a great friend back when we were in our late teens/early 20's - but life has plans for us and things change. I will always have the best of memories about Bill. He played his Strad well.

Very sad to here about this loss. Bill you were loved greatly by Lorry and Jane. Losing touch with you was hard. I will always remember the times we spent with you and your mom shopping, going for drives and out for lunch. I know you will be received in heaven and all of us that loved you will miss you but God has called you home. I will think of you all the time. Love you forever your cousin Jane. XOXO

Chris & Charlene, I wish to extend my sincere condolences to you and your extended family during this difficult time.  Although I had spent only limited time with your brother in my teens, I recall how kind and thoughtful he was.  His warm personality definitely left an impression on me.  So sad he had to go so soon.  Stay strong.  Love Shauna Sarakula ❤
