CONSTANCE “CONNIE” SAWATSKY

October 10, 1948 – November 29, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Connie Sawatsky. She passed away peacefully with her loving daughter by her side on November 29, 2024 after her courageous battle with cancer came to an end.

Connie will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Shelly; and son-in-law, Chris; Granddaughter Chantelle (Jon); Great Granddaughter Emilia; Grandson Cody (Claire).

Connie was born on October 10, 1948 to Jack and Nettie Sawatsky in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She grew up in St. Vital and attended Glenlawn Collegiate. Connie worked in accounting and administration at various businesses and Law firms throughout Winnipeg until her retirement. After retirement, Connie enjoyed her time with loved ones and close friends, taking regular trips to Kenora and Dryden, Ontario to visit with her family. As a natural explorer with an endless appetite for adventure, Connie would often be found planning her next journey around the world. Her numerous trips and cruises over her life took her to the Mediterranean, Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland, Alaska, Hawaii, Europe and so many more.

Connie was an avid fan of theatre in Winnipeg, and in the company of her loving friends, attended countless productions at the Rainbow Stage, Prairie Theatre and Royal MTC.

Connie adored her grandchildren and was especially proud of her role as GG to her great-granddaughter Emilia, she brought a tremendous amount of joy to her life.

Connie will be fondly remembered by all of her family as well as her dearest friends, Randa, Zeljka, Don and Jo-Ann, Rachelle, Sherri, Jan, Donna, Sheila, Jerry, and all the friends she had throughout her lifetime. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

We would like to express great gratitude to her family physician Dr Osagie; Dr Paul and Dr Fatoye at Cancer Care Manitoba; the Palliative Care Team; Dr Chisick and all the GD4 nurses at Health Sciences Centre that cared for Connie during her final days. A special thank you to Jocelyn at the HSC Homecare for her kind words and support during the most difficult time.

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held later in the spring 2025.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Connie’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Connie was my first cousin. As we approach Christmas, it's the time I remember spending many Christmas holiday meals with Connie and our other cousins and family. As an older cousin.... 4 years older..... 🥰 Connie was to be admired. That was a big age difference for little kids! over the last 25 to 30 years, Connie and I met regularly for lunch and coffee. We kept in touch, comparing holiday cruises, past and future. And we talked about children and grand children. And of course now a great grand child. Connie was so proud of you all. Our deepest sympathy in your loss. Rest in peace Connie.
