DOUGLAS RICHARD SCHARF
January 18, 1962 - February 2, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doug Scharf on Wednesday February 2, 2022 at the age of 60 years after a courageous battle with Cancer with his family by his side. Left to forever cherish Doug's memory are his beloved wife and bestfriend of 42 years Charlene; his children David (Annie), Robert (Kristen), Janelle (Jay) and grandson Jayden; as well as his loyal companion CC. Doug also leaves behind his brother Stan; sisters Linda (Wayne) and Bonnie (Chris); and several nieces and nephews.
Doug was predeceased by his father Douglas Scharf and mother Margaret Scharf. Doug was born in Winnipeg on January 18, 1962. He was a very kind, giving and respected man. He always went out of his way to help others and put others needs ahead of his. He was a master at small engine repair with many loyal customers that would come from across the city to have him fix whatever it was they needed. Doug was a forklift operator which he took great pride in his skill at Transcontinental Printing early on and ending at Big Freight.
Doug had a great smile and infectious laugh, he was always cracking jokes and just being goofy. He enjoyed having fires with Charlene in the backyard looking up at the stars.
Special thank you to all Doug's family, friends, coworkers for their kindness, generosity and love. As well to neighbors Trish and Ray Rosolowich, we really appreciate everything. Doug was very grateful for the love, support and generosity.
Thank you to Doug's doctors and nurses at CancerCare and to Darlene; Spiritual Care Worker at St. Boniface Hospital.
As per Doug's wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held.
Doug's family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
Rest easy dad, I will cherish the times we had together, all the memories, and all the laughs we shared, forever. Thank you dad, for everything you ever did for us, for always being there, and for making us feel safe and loved. Kristen loves you so much and will always be forever grateful for everything you have done for us and for loving her the way you did. My heart hurts, and I don't know what I'm going to do without you dad.
Forever grateful for you, you are forever loved, and forever missed. Till we are together again.
I love you dad.

Dad,
I still cannot believe you're gone. I miss you so much. I know you're up in heaven now watching over all of us and it helps knowing you're no longer in pain and reunited with your mom and dad. You are the best dad a daughter could ask for. I will be forever grateful for everything you have done for me and Jay. He wants you to know he loves you and misses you and plans to stick by his promise he made to you for the rest of his life. We will all take care of mom and Ceaser. You just rest in peace until we meet again.
WE LOVE YOU DAD

Dad,
I miss you so much. The day you passed I not only lost my father and role model, I also lost a best friend. You always believed in me, even when nobody else did. You were always there for me whenever I needed you and made sure I knew that "you only want the best for me". You were also one of literally only a couple people who said they were proud of me when I started to straighten out and clean myself up. You never acted or treated me like I was a disappointment. Even though I knew that I was! I'm glad you at least got to see me get clean! I'm still going strong dad, and I want you to know that I won't let you down. I promise you dad there's no going back, I'm going to stay clean for you! I feel so alone now without you, and I don't know how to exist in a world where you don't. I still can't believe you're gone. Not only my world, but the world in general is truly a worse place without you. I love you dad! I'll see you again soon enough.
Dave
Doug,
Even though we knew you were sick, your passing was sudden and a shock to all of us. I miss you so much, but am grateful for the 42 years we had together. I want to thank you for everything you taught me throughout those years.
You taught me to love, to be strong and independent, and because of that I know I can carry on without you. It will be hard at times and lonely but I will do it. Ceaser, your baby bear, misses you so much and we are helping each other through this. I am so grateful you talked me into getting him.
You told me once, you were more worried about leaving me alone than you were of dying. You don't have to worry. Our kids are taking really good care of me. You would be so proud of them, they learned from the best. You were the best Father and Husband anybody could want.
I love you, and you will never be forgotten, you are in my heart forever. I will cherish all my memories of our life together.
I know when it is time for us to be together again, you will be there to show me the way.
Your loving wife,
Charlene
