AUGUST (AUGIE) OTTO SCHULTZ

We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our wonderful Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather of 87 years.  Following a brief illness, August was called upon to leave this Earth.

In his later years’ he would always say he was ready to go home whenever the good Lord wanted him.

He was born in Winnipeg, MB to Martha and Herman Schultz of Niverville, MB.  He grew up there on the family farm. 

Dad got into the field of truck driving at a young age, hauling new cars for several years before going to work for Weston Bakeries so he would not have to keep doing long distance driving anymore to allow him to spend more time at home with his Family.  Dad gave up trucking in 1976 .  He went into business for himself and had a truck stop called Augie’s Esso, in Hadashville, MB.  He gained many friends over the years while he and his wife, Bev, ran the truck stop. After this, he moved to Toniata, MB. By Falcon Lake.

Dad then started driving School Bus to Steinbach.  He also worked for the Manitoba Parks Department in Falcon Lake during the summers after he gave up driving school bus.

He was a very devoted Father and was very proud of his Children, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He was always telling others about them. Many of his grown children’s friends often referred to Augie as a second Dad. 

Augie is survived by his children, Laura (Darrell) Richards, and Glenn (Connie) Schultz; grandchildren, Krista (Brian) Richards Murphy, Kelsey Richards and her Fiancé Daniel Cruz Jr., Angie (Mike) Doerksen, and Tayler (Trevor) Verreault; great grandchildren, Ally S. Daniel the 3rd, Ally R., Raiden, and Rowan; sisters, Alma Dahl, Eileen Martel, Linda Bartley, and Doris Wiebe (Denver); sister-in-law Janice Schultz; as well as many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his Parents, Martha and Herman Schultz; his brother Herbert Schultz; and his sister Lorna Schultz. 

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service.
