PAUL SENECAL
August 29, 1928 – June 14, 2021
Our Hero!!
It is with great sadness that his family announces, the passing of their beloved Paul Senecal. Paul passed away in the St. Boniface General Hospital, with his family at his side, on the evening of Monday, June 14, 2021, at the age of 92 years.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Mary Louise sons, children Darcy (Jennifer) and Greg (Sam); grandchildren Justin, Myles, Jeaninne, Shania, and Nick. Paul adored his children and they adored him!
Born Joseph William Paul Senecal, but everyone knew him as Paul. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, friend, and a great teacher. He was a very loyal man; his family was his life. Paul was very proud of his two sons Darcy and Greg; he was a protector of his family. His grandchildren brought him immense joy! He loved to smile, laugh, joke, and tease! You never knew with his story telling if they were true or funny until the end. He kept you in suspense. He was the hardest working man.
Paul was born in St Boniface, Manitoba, which is now part of Winnipeg. He was the third oldest of four brothers. He grew up in St. Eustache, Manitoba. Life wasn’t easy, losing his mom at a very young age, he was raised by different family members. At the young age of 15 he left St. Eustache to work with his brother Marcel in Hurst, Ontario, as a logger.
Paul came back to Manitoba where he worked in Construction with Marvin Sanness, his best bud! He then returned to bush life/logger working for Henry Boutang whom became his father-in-law. He worked in the bush for 20 years.
He met Mary Louise Boutang in 1960 and married in Vassar, MB on May 9, 1964. They moved to Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1964 where Paul worked for Dow Chemical for five years. They moved back to Manitoba in 1969 and purchased the farm in Floreze, MB which is near St. Labre, Mb. There they started off with chickens, but their focus changed to a dairy farm for 20 years. After retiring from the dairy farm, they raised veal and beef. Later he worked for Mike Querell on the buffalo farm and Adrien Grenier on his dairy farm.
In the spring of 2008 Paul officially retired, sold the farm and moved to Blumenort, MB. There he and Mary Louise planted a garden and kept busy with the upkeep of their home. They spent a lot of time with their boys and grandchildren.
On the fifth of June 2021 they moved from Blumenort to Winnipeg to a beautiful, quaint apartment. Living only five minutes from their son Darcy and daughter in-law Jennifer. He was only there for a few days before his passing.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held when it is possible to gather. In the meantime, Paul’s family kindly requests that his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos and/or sharing your own memories and stories using the comment section on this page.
You will be forever in our
thoughts, and missed by all!
Our Memories to Cherish Forever!
Until We Meet Again!
In Paul’s words
“All Good Things Come to An End”
~
My Hero
You held my hand when I was small
You caught me when I fell
You are the hero of my childhood
And my later years as well
And every time I think of you
My heart still fills with pride
Though I will always miss you Dad
I know you’re by my side
In laughter and in sorrow
In sunshine and in rain
I know you’re watching over me
Until we meet again.
