DOUGLAS (DOUG) SEWELL

April 8, 1939 – August 3, 2025

On Sunday August 3rd, Doug slipped peacefully away. Born in Tottenhill, England on April 8th 1939, he lived a full and varied life. From the farm in the fens to a career in the RAF that took him all the way to Singapore, back to England eventually, and then emigrating to Canada with his young family in 1969, he was never afraid of change.

Doug spent several years working in the aviation business in La Ronge SK and northern Manitoba. He retired as a Real Estate Broker in Winnipeg.

Doug is survived by his wife Andrea; son Gary (Jolene); daughter Tracey; and son Scott (Shawna); grandchildren, Erik, Matthew, Simon, Marcus, and Sophie. He is also survived by his step-family; Rachel (Scott), Kelly (David), Kai (Natasha), Livia, Liam, Willa, Hayden, and Ryder.

Doug was predeceased by his sisters, Barbara and Pam. He is survived by his brothers, George and Henry.

“So, on the hard days, you must remind yourself: You wouldn’t trade the love to escape the grief. You wouldn’t erase the happiness to avoid the pain. And you will endure a lifetime of missing, for the privilege of having loved.”

At Doug’s request, there will be no formal service. If friends desire, please consider a donation to Cancer Care Manitoba or Spirit of Hope Rescue.

Douglas’ family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

My sincere condolences to Andrea and family. I was lucky to have met Doug and the many years we worked together in a leadership capacity with the Winnipeg Regional Real Estate Board. Always kind, caring and a consomate professional that put everyone's intersts ahead of his own. I remain sorry for your loss.

Doug was a true gentleman. Always asking questions about our lives when we met up at family getherings. He was genuinely interested in what was new with my famly and I, and always willing to share a tale from a past adventure of his. He will be missed dearly by the Richards family.

Always loved spending time with and listening to Uncle Dougs' RAF stories, stories from his early adventures in Canada with Uncle George and Dad. Will be missed.
