JOSEPHINE SHARROW
(née Mousseau)
October 23, 1929 – May 20, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Josie Sharrow announce her passing on Wednesday May 20, 2020 in Winnipeg Manitoba, while holding her daughter Margaret’s hand and with her granddaughter Ashely by her side.
Josie was born in Savant Lake, October 23, 1929 where she grew up and later worked in many of the tourist camps as a cook and baker. In 1957 she married Joe Sharrow. Together, they had three children and moved to Thunder Bay in 1963, where she pursued a career in nursing, until her retirement in 1995. She was also known as the Pie Lady, selling her famous butter tarts and pies, after her retirement. Josie was a spitfire and was never one to sit still. She had a big heart and it was not unusual for her to bring strangers home for dinner. Her love of outdoors had her fishing and tramping through the bush in her eighties. Many times, we would accompany her on fishing trips in remote areas around Savant Lake where she baked blueberry pies while cleaning fish at the same time. Who bakes pies in the middle of the bush? Her husband Joe passed away in 1989 and in 1992 she married Danny Lisenchuk who remained devoted to her until his passing in 2017. Josie then moved to Winnipeg and resided at Meadowood Manor. We were so grateful to have been able share her final years together where she enjoyed being with her family at the lake in Lac du Bonnet. Josie is the last remaining member of the” Mousseau clan” as she is the second youngest of 10 children. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Mousseau and mother Antonette Shaganosh, brothers, Eddie, Denis, Frank, James, sisters, Anne, Bertha, Jean, Monica, Pearl, daughter Becky and great grandson Joseph. She is survived by her son Clyde of Prince Albert, daughter Margaret (Ron), of Winnipeg, grandchildren Chris, Jennifer (Lawrence), Amanda (Darren), Fanessa, Ashely (L.C), great grandchildren Ethan, Faith, Abigail, Jacob and Emma along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
She was a Fort William First Nation Band member and a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church where she enjoyed spending her Sunday mornings. We will never forget someone who gave us so much to remember.
Josie's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing your own photos and/or sharing your own memories and stories or condolences for the family by using the comment section on this page.
If friends so desire, donations in Memory of Josie can be made to Shelter House Thunder Bay via web or calling 807-623-8182 or Meadowood Manor via email or calling 204-588-8507.
