MICHELLE MARIE SHAWARSKY

(née TOFFLEMIRE)

August 17, 1958 – January 30, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michelle Marie Shawarsky (Tofflemire), after a battle with NMO.

 

Michelle is survived by her sister Charmaine (Gordon); her three children, Danielle, Jason and Nicole (Jordan); her 6 grandchildren, Kieran, Shaylee, Declan, Hadley, River, and Anthony;  Aunts Pamela and Judy; cousins Gary, Jeffrey Stephen, Nancy and Debbie; nieces and nephews, Justin Brittany, Richard, Michael (Fallone), and Ashley; great nieces and nephews Jayden, Evalina and Sophia; along with many friends and loved ones.

Michelle is predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Jeannine Tofflemire; her sister Nicole Tofflemire; and her Aunts, Annette Paquin and Rita Cherlet.

Michelle grew up in Windsor, Ontario and moved to Winnipeg in the early 80's to begin her career as a hairdresser. After many years, Michelle became a resident manager of an apartment complex until NMO took her sight. She was a force to be reckoned with. Michelle was always strong willed and outspoken. She always said " I have a voice and I am going to use it.", and use it she did.

Michelle loved her family and friends fiercely and with her whole heart. Her personality was larger than life and will be missed more than words can express. 

Michelle fought hard in her final days but was ready to be with her family and God. Our deepest thanks go to the staff and medical team at the Grace hospital who did everything they could to help Michelle pass with dignity and grace. Rest easy now, Michelle. You are in the loving arms of your family and God. We will miss you but you will never be forgotten and always in our hearts.
