MARY LOUISE SHELDON

May 14, 1945 – May 5, 2024

Mary passed peacefully in her sleep on May 5, 2024, at the age of 78. Her family and close friends will be mourning her death privately. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerry; her son David; daughter-in-law Monica; grandson Jack; close friend Bunny; her siblings, nieces, and nephews.

Mary appreciated the details of life richly, loved nature and the animals she rescued. For many years, she had a successful counseling and therapeutic massage practice focused on women. An empathetic listener with a candid style, she had the ability to comfort others with her calm presence both in her professional and personal life.

She will be sadly missed by those whose lives she graced.

Mary’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

My deepest condolences. Mary was very wise and always exceptionally kind and generous with me. I remember how she would indulge David and I when we were young, with her and Jerry taking us on all kinds of adventures to far-flung parks and beaches, encouraging our inclination to explore and embark on fanciful projects that only children can imagine. She kept us safe, but always seemed willing to look the other way whenever we sought mischief—as long as it wasn’t overly troublesome or life-threatening. I feel honoured to have known her, and I will continue to think of her, as I often do, whenever I encourage my own children to explore the limits of possibility.

Mary was a wonderful mother-in-law; always helpful and supportive. I'm forever grateful for the healthy recipes and progressive parenting style she passed on; my family is healthier and happier because of her influence. Her appreciation of good food, long walks, and simple pleasures was wonderfully contagious. I will miss her quiet confidence and company.
