Neil Shepard

NEIL ARCHIBALD SHEPARD
February 20, 1953 – December 31, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Archibald Shepard, who peacefully passed away on December 31st, 2025, in Winnipeg at the age of 72.
Neil is survived by his wife, Leslie; children, Sean (Stephanie) and Charlene (Shawn); grandchildren, Hannah Shepard, Hailey Shepard, and soon-to-be granddaughter Baby Ward; sister, Linda (Randy) Matkaluk; in-laws, Wayne (Lori) and Linda; nieces, Stephanie (Mike) and Shauna; nephews, Brett (Rosshiel), Cole (Lucy), and Scott; as well as numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Archie and Phyllis Shepard; and brother-in-law, Harold Ireland.
Born on February 20th, 1953, in Winnipeg, Neil grew up in St. James with his parents and sister Linda. The family spent many years out at the cabin at Chalet Beach, where the love of boating, camping, and the outdoors grew well into adulthood. Many favorite memories of friends and family included campfires on the beach, boating on Lake Winnipeg, off-roading, working on vehicles, and operating heavy machinery. In his youth, Neil was an active athlete, focusing on hockey and running, with his love of sports passing on to both of his children. Neil was also very proud of his screen presence, specifically as an extra in the 1997 Winnipeg-shot movie "The Avro Arrow." Neil was an avid lover of animals, with his dogs Axel and Casey and his adopted grand-puppies Bailey and Pepper, for whom he was always known to have a treat ready in his pocket.
Cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service provided at this time. The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, please make all remembrances to CancerCare Manitoba.
