Nelly Shuya

NELLY SHUYA
1940 - 2025
It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nelly Shuya on August 16, 2025 at Beacon Hill Lodge in Winnipeg, at the age of 85.
Nelly was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was predeceased by her parents, Karl and Margaret; her sons, Peter and Ron; and her siblings, Ingrid, Robert, Shirley and James. She is survived by her son, Cliff, and daughter, Bev; her grandchildren, Crystal (Rob), Adam (Danika), Jennifer, Randy, and Matthew; many nieces and nephews along with her extended family and friends. Nelly will be cherished and dearly missed by all her family and friends but we find some comfort in knowing she is now at peace.
Nelly spent many years in Winnipeg raising a family and working as a Housekeeping Supervisor at the Municipal Hospitals. She moved to Vancouver where she spent over 20 years with her sister Ingrid and working in Homecare. She retired and moved back to Winnipeg to be closer to her family. She enjoyed working on her crafts. She especially loved seeing her grandchildren and spending quality time with them. She would make them laugh at her funny sayings or the cute wave of her hand. She loved going out for a morning coffee or an afternoon Starbucks chai tea then spending time walking in the park looking at the flower gardens. She loved travelling and her summer road trips to Vancouver Island.
We would especially like to thank the nursing and support staff at Beacon Hill Lodge for the wonderful care they gave Nelly.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. A private family celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation tothe Make-A-Wish Foundation Canada.
Nelly’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. She was such a nice lady with a welcoming smile everytime I saw her. Nothing I can say will take away the pain you’re experiencing. I just want you to know that I care about you, and I share in your sadness. Sending lots of love your way.
