CARROL ANNE SIMM

(née UNGER)

March 26, 1957 – November 6, 2022

After a brief illness at St. Boniface Hospital, Carrol passed away with her husband at her side in the early hours of November 6, 2022 prior to her passing her family was at her side.

Carrol was predeceased by her parents Ben and Alvena Unger, her brother Gordon, and in laws David and Betty Simm.

Carrol is survived by her loving husband of 22 years Rick Simm and her Baby Boy George the Parrot, her twin sister Dale King and sister Sherry Moodie (Randy), sister in laws Wanda and Lola, numerous Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, her long-time friend Sally and  Liam who helped them with stuff around the yard and the house.

Carrol worked for a number of years for Petroleum Branch of the Province of Manitoba.

Carrol and Rick lived for a number of years in Lorrette, making lots of friends. They would hold an annual fish fry with their friends and neighbours.  Carrol loved to fish even though she was allergic to fish. Carrol enjoyed her yard and all her cement ornaments, Polar Bear Island, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and so many more. Carrol loved her above ground pool and would spend hours in it. Carrol’s laugh will be missed, George the Parrot could imitate the laugh perfectly. George was her baby and he meant everything to her. George will miss her.

The move to the city and into an apartment was a big adjustment for them for they needed more support for Rick. It didn’t take them long to make lots of friends in the block.

The last year was a real struggle for Carrol after her stroke. With the help of Rick’s Aunt Donna, Rick’s Uncle Rod and Rick’s cousin Kathy and all the homecare support they were able to stay in their apartment.

Donations can be made to Manitoba Heart & Stroke Foundation or Cancer Care Manitoba.

Funeral will be held on Friday, November 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm. at the Unitarian Church, 603 Wellington Crescent (N/W corner of Wellington and Academy)

My wife Kim and I send all our love to Rick and the whole family. I am Carrol's cousin 8 years younger. The Ungers were my second family and I considered Gord the brother I never had. Rest in peace. Until we meet again. ❤

Dear Rick and Unger Family.  So sorry to hear of Carrol's passing.  We have known Carrol since the 60's when the Unger family moved into the house on Walden.  I babysat all the kids at one time or another and worked for Mr Unger for many years and Carrol and Hans and I had many good laughs together.  I am sure everyone is very heart broken so know our thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time.   May she rest in peace.

My sincere heartfelt condolences for Rick ❤ Carrol’s twin sister Dale, her sister Sherry, the Unger and Simm families.  I’m sure going to miss you Carrol. I loved our times together sharing over 55 years of friendship. Our Saturday shopping excursions, the perogy making get togethers, weekly ceramic classes, dance class, Saturday movie matinee’s at East End, ice skating,  hide and seek, sleep outs, sleep overs, birthday party celebrations, bingo nights, our get away vacation to California, our visits that often turned into the early hours of the morning, so many memories over the years that we shared and the many special times visiting with you and Rick in Lorette in the very cozy sunroom.  Carrol had a special way of making you feel at home and was always so welcoming. We did a lot of laughing and crying together over the years. Her and I could talk for hours and hours about life, family, goals and dreams. We were childhood friends growing up down the street from one another. What I remember most about Carrol was her kindness and generosity, her quick sense of humour, her cheerful hello, she had an infectious laughter that could brighten up anyone’s day, but most of all I remember her non stop determination and her love for Rick.     Carrol was taken far too soon. Rest in peace my dear sweet sister friend, till our paths cross again,  I’ll love and miss you forever and ever.
