ROBIN SIMMONS
November 23, 1936 – June 23, 2025
With many memories and heavy hearts, his family announces the passing of Robin after a brief time dealing with cancer.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Louise; and son Jason (wife Marissa).
Born in Eastend, Saskatchewan, Robin lived in various towns in Saskatchewan and Manitoba during his lifetime.
His working years started with the Bank of Montreal where he stayed for eight years, then went to Manitoba Hydro in 1969. There he worked in various finance departments and retired in 1993. As a young boy he joined the Naval Reserve for 29 years. Retirement saw him take on two part-time jobs: Treasury work for All Saints Anglican Church and bookkeeping for Galaxy Travel.
Over the years he got involved in various activities: photography, golf, curling, getting his private pilot’s license, playing the piano, and steel drums were some of them. He even started taking ballroom dance lessons where he met Louise. He also really enjoyed travelling and managed to get to many different countries in the world. A very fulfilled life.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private graveside service. If so desired, and with thanks, a charitable donation in his memory can be made to a place of your choice.
“We will hold you close within our hearts
And there you will remain,
To walk with us throughout our lives,
Until we meet again.”
- Louise, Jason, & Marissa
Robin’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Dear Louise, Jason and Marissa
I want to give you my heartfelt sympathy...I am so sorry to learn of Robin's passing on. May he rest in peace forever.
We were neighbors for a few years in Winnipeg and I have fond memories of spending time with you Louise, and Robin.
Please know that my heart is with you...having had to travel this journey myself, I understand the grief you are feeling. I know it sounds rather cliche, but Time does help to ease the sorrow. Beautiful memories are what help tremendously.
Take care of yourselves and each other.

Sincere condolences from Alex James and I. I worked with Robin at Manitoba Hydro. Always had his briefcase close by. While very serious about his work I managed to make him laugh a few times over silly accounting jokes. Always a pleasure to deal with.

My first Job was with the Bank of Montreal in a a little town called Kelliher in Saskatchewan. He was driving a Baracuda and offered to have it loaded on a trailer for the Canada Day parade. I was driving the tractor and took a sharp turn and almost tipped it. Robin was the assistant manager and I have always had fond memories of him.

Wow ....it's been a minute. And here we are putting our fathers to rest.
Jason , Marissa and Mrs. Simmons,
My family and I are so sorry for your loss of a father and husband , far too soon.
...I can still feel the plush velvet of a brand new Chrysler Fifth Avenue with its crystal hood ornament that I just wanted to rip off and wear around my neck ....Mr Simmons cars in the 80's and 90's were a stark contrast to my mother's Ford Tempo.
He was a reserved man of few words , I honestly don't think I we ever had a conversation. You knew tho ( always prepared and one step ahead ) while looking after us boys, a smartly dressed ( dapper but sensible ) generous yet frugal dad would show up 15 min before the official end of the night to drive us home. His military precision being both a blessing and a curse to boys who thought they knew everything yet knew nothing.
Thank you for being a solid , genuine , cool in his own way, humble man of faith Mr Simmons.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let Your perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
Praying God gives comfort and peace at this time of mourning a life well lived.

Louise and family,
Mavis and I are very sorrry that Robin passed so suddenly. It was always a pleasure to chat with him on our respective driveways.
Having curled for him in the hydro league (he was the skip), I found him to be a very skilled curler. I also enjoyed golfing with him.
Robin was a principled person who knew right from wrong, and lived his life accordingly. May God give you the strength to deal with the difficult days ahead. With sincere sympathy.
