TOM SKUTNIK

July 29, 1947 – April 14, 2023

It is with a tremendous sense of loss and heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Father, Brother, and Granddad.

Tom will be forever loved and sorely missed by his sons, Steve (Sharon) and Paul (Thiea); brother Rick (Tracey); and grandchildren, Kayla, Ilaina, Ricky, and Anthony. Tom was predeceased by Linda, his wife of 42 years in 2013.

Tom will always be remembered for his kind heart, his generosity, and his love of family and friends. He was larger than life and he cherished being active, going to the gym, and socializing with people.

The family wishes to acknowledge the staff of both the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and care.

In accordance with Tom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers should friends so desire, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to CancerCare Manitoba.

Tom’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by sharing photos, memories, and stories, using the comment section on this page.

Our deepest condolences to Paul, Steve and immediate family in regards the loss of your dad.  Have many memories over the years from school in the west end with Tom to being neighbours in Transcona over the years.  Many memories of various sporting events with Tom and while at Roland Michenor Arena  and trips to the US highlighted with spending a week with Tom and Linda when they came down to Yuma Arizona for a week right after they both retired which left us with may pleasant memories.  Tom definitely was a kind gentle giant.

Dear Paul, Stephen and Families.  Our heartfelt  condolences to you all.  Your Dad was a good guy for sure.  He had such a great sense of humor and kindness about him.  We had many great memories of both your Dad and Mom during hockey years.  Thanks for the memories Tom.

Tom was an exceptional man, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Both Mark and I were blessed to have had both  him and Linda in our lives. We travelled together and spent many many happy times together as family. He once told me at one of our coffee breaks at Tim’s that Linda was the love of his life! Our deepest condolences to Paul and Steven and the whole family   He will be so missed!💔. Rest in peace and now they are together once again.

Paul, Steve and family:  my condolences on the passing of your dad.  I had the privilege of working with your dad at Roland Michener Arena.  It was there that I realized how kind of a man he was. I admired his warm personality and the number of people he knew was outstanding.     He helped shape my work ethic and taught me that any job worth doing is worth doing right.  Those words and actions have followed me in life.  I thoroughly enjoyed working each shift with him and even though we haven’t chatted in many years, I’m grateful for the time we worked together.   RIP Tom Kevin Boughton

I have know Tom (Mr Skutnik) pretty much my entire life. Opened his house to us for many boxing PPV and was always more than accommodating while we took up his driveway while playing basketball. Many great conversations were had, most involving the Bombers.
