GERALDINE NORA SLAWSON

(née POERSCH)

June 10, 1930 - September 27, 2021

At the age of 91 years, Geraldine passed away peacefully in Extendicare Tuxedo Villa, Winnipeg, Manitoba on the evening of Monday, September 27, 2021.

 

A loving wife to the late Alden Irving Slawson and caring mother to Jeffrey and Leigh Ann, she was a

school teacher in Sanford, and a food service supervisor at the University of Manitoba. Geraldine was a friendly, humorous, and kind-hearted lady. She will be forever remembered and loved by Jeffrey, her relatives, and closest friends.

 

Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held. Geraldine’s family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. I will never forget Geri she was a beautiful lady. I was honored to call her my friend. I will miss our phone calls. RIP my sweet friend. You and your husband are reunited.

I will never forget Geri. She was our next door neighbor and would watch my brother and I grow up right until the day we moved away from home. She is the definition of "friendly Manitoba" and would always make a point to come over to catch up on what my brother and I were up to. She was also the most stylish woman on the block! I'll miss you and your heart, Geri. ❤

Geri was our neighbor for over 30 years. She was a close friend and confidante. She was like a grandma to our children and was included in family celebrations. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She never left the house without hair, makeup and clothes done just  right. She knew everyone in the neighbourhood. I will miss her peaking out her bathroom window to chat with me in the backyard!

I was a friend of Geraldine Slawson's daughter Leigh Anne, over 40 years ago in school. I remember Mrs. Slawson very well as a very elegant, beautiful & kind woman, & a sweetheart. I had the honor of also meeting her Husband, also a kind man.  My heart & thoughts & prayers of strength & peace go out to Jeff in such a devastating loss of both his Sister & Mother in just 3 months. I can't even imagine it, & am so incredibly sorry, Jeff.  The video of your Mother is beautiful, as she was, & will remain so. Her soul is now free, & reunited with your Sister & your Father, in the care of God's protection & divine LOVE. Stay strong & keep the faith. Geri was my closes friend through High School in Sanford.vShe was a kind and fun loving fiend. Unfortunately our lives led us in separate direction after school and we only connected on rare occasions .but these were always filled with good memories and laughter. Always remembered. Sylvia

Sad to hear of Geri's passing. She and my sister Marilyn were born 3 day's apart and went through Sanford School together. I have a grade school and high school picture which I would share with anyone interested.
