DOUGLAS KEITH SMITH

February 25, 1949 – December 20, 2019

With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Doug Smith on December 20, 2019 in his home at the age of 70 years.

Left to cherish his memory are his 3 children, Jason Smith, James Smith and Corise Slock; his grandchildren, Brianne Normandeau, Jeremie Normandeau, Joshua Kern, Aylesha Mamakeesik, Aliyah McIvor, Isaiah McIvor, Alexis Wolfe, Malayna Wolfe, Marykate Moore, Harmony Moore, Angel Moore, Eric Smith, Kimberly Smith, Brittany Slock, Brenden Ferland and Breann Ferland; his brother Ron (Elaine) Smith; his nieces and nephews; and his close friends.

Doug was predeceased by his two siblings, Gord Smith and Ken (Judy) Smith.

Doug was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was the fourth son of William and Lily Smith. Doug was a loving father to all of his three children, Jason, James and Corise; he also had a profound and unconditional love for all of his grandchildren. He adored each and every one of them.

In Doug’s early years he worked out of town as a cook, and spent many years fostering children.

Doug enjoyed his time to himself, but also enjoyed spending time with his children; even more so with his grandchildren. Doug had a passion for sports, he would never miss watching the NFL on Sundays or Hockey Night in Canada on Saturdays.
