Randy Smith
RANDOLPH ROBERT SMITH
March 25, 1953 – March 26, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce that Randy passed away with his family by his side on March 26, 2024 in Winnipeg at the age of 71. He is predeceased by his Mother Herni Vanvoorthysen. (1980)
He is survived by the love of his life Anna his wife of 31 years his children Andrew (Nicole), Shelagh, Kael (Stephanie) Patrick (Rosa) Jax (family dog); grandchildren Daniel (Kylie), Noal, Sebastian, Ethan, Emersyn, and Isaac.
Randy spent many years working in construction and concrete restoration. One of his greatest achievements was the construction of the Birds Hill Park project.
Some would say that Randy was a truck enthusiast as he was always on Kijiji looking for the next collectable piece and many times sending these to his son Kael and friend Art to help “educate/persuade” his wife.
His children and grandchildren were the center of his world. Family gatherings were never a dull moment around Randy, due to his witty charm and Dad jokes (Not always appropriate) (wOw) (it’s funny but it’s snot).
Randy enjoyed playing baseball from his younger years into adulthood. It was his love of baseball sliding into base that almost shattered the start of Randy and Anna’s relationship. He didn’t let a broken leg stop him from following his heart.
Randy was an avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the Jets, Bombers, and most of all, the 49er’s. Randy always looked forward to the playoff games where he would insist on hosting and making his famous “Dad” chili that he shared with family and friends. Randy passed on his love of sports to his children which he took great joy watching them excel in. The family will continue to host sporting events in his memory.
The family would like to thank the First responders as well as the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion.
In Accordance with their wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
Randy’s family kindly requests that all of his friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour his memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Love, prayer and hugs to Drew, Shelagh and family.
I don’t remember ever meeting your dad, but you are great so that says a lot!!
Growing up, Drew was one of my most cherished friends and I loved watching Shelagh grow up into the beautiful person she is today.
Thank you Randy and Anna for the beautiful children you brought into the world and that I have the pleasure to call friends.

Anna, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. You were a great friend to me when I lived in Winnipeg, and I will aways think of you as a member of my extended family. I wish I was there to lend a shoulder, and a hand to hold. I can imagine that a celebration of Randy's life is what's happening, and through the tears of laughter, I hope you will find comfort. Big hugs from your guy in Chicago; take care of yourself my Sorella....
