SHELLEY INGRID SMITH

April 23, 1953 - May 23, 2022

With heavy hearts we are sad to announce the passing of Shelley Ingrid Smith on May 23, 2022 at the age of 69.

Shelley is predeceased by her father Henry (Tampy) Smith; mother Mildred Lamoureux; sisters, Roberta (Bobby)Smith and Laurie Oleson; and her husband Rob (Buzz) Brownridge.

Shelley is survived by her loving wife Joann Rasmussen; sons, Ryan Kristjansson and Kelly (Tara) Kristjansson; grandchildren, Tyler, Leif, Chase, Eric, Kaden, and Marisa; siblings, Brian (Gerrie) Smith, Dave Smith, and Iris (Marie) Smith; nieces Cherie Smith and Susie Smith; and grandniece Karianna Smith.

Shelley was known for her big heart, her passion for a just cause, and her loving and giving nature. To experience her love was like no other, to which she gave freely to her family, friends, community, and of course her animals.

Shelley went back to university later on in life. With countless hours and effort, she received her degree to which she was very proud of, and went forth in her career at IBM. She learned American sign language only to go on and volunteer at the Deaf Resource Centre of Manitoba. As well as volunteering many hours and raising funds for the Siloam Mission.

After retirement Shelley found peace and relaxation at the place she loved the most: the cottage. She would spend hours on the deck overlooking the lake and watching her beloved hummingbirds.

Shelley you are and will forever be the Matriarch of the famila. A true Icelandic warrior at heart.

Shelley's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.

Those we love don't go away,

they walk beside us every day.

Unseen, unheard, but always near;

still loved still missed and very dear.

Shelley, one of the truest examples of a sister friend. Over 40 years of friendship, laughter in good times and comfort in bad.  As we used to end our phone calls, love you my friend. 👩‍❤️‍👩 Diane Cunningham

Shelly when we moved in the Co-op and I was nervous volunteering you were always there beside me I’m sure you would have love to bingo. You were always there giving me confidence.😤 When my dad was sick and I had to stay at the hospital all night I knew you were there to watch over the boys that brought me a lot of peace your great support system and I will miss you. You’re flying with the angels with no pain. Until we meet again.  Love you always ❤
