PETER SPRAGUE

June 8, 1940 – December 26, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce that our dear friend Pete passed away, peacefully, in his sleep on December 26, 2023 in Winnipeg at the age of 83 after a short battle with cancer.

Peter is survived by his brothers Wesley (Betty), Michael and David, Brother-in-Law Robert Armstrong, Niece Shelley Brunet, Friend and caregiver Judi McFarland (Michele) and numerous friends. Pete was predeceased by his Father Albert Sprague and Mother, Jean Sprague (née Wisson) Sisters, Jackie Armstrong and Ginny Breton.

Peter was born in Hamilton, Ontario and spent his adult life in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He loved to spend his summers in Dryden with his sister Jackie, best friend and brother-in-law Robert and their family. He would talk about going there for months leading up to the day he travelled. His favourite past times were camping, fishing, painting pictures (he loved to paint them and give them away), playing cards and coffee, bucketloads of coffee. Pete was a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous and his greatest passion was helping the newcomer settle in to a new way of living. Pete was the kindest, most generous man and would gladly give half or all of everything to anyone he felt needed it more than he did. He will be missed by many in these rooms. If you wish to make a donation in Peter’s name, please visit Siloam Mission at https://www.siloam.ca/action/donate-goods

We would like to thank the nurses and staff of Golden Links Lodge Personal Care Home, especially Helena and Elouise for their compassionate care of Pete during his time living there. They are the most amazing people.

In Accordance with Pete’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a private memorial for family once the weather warms up in 2024.
