ARLENE VIRGINIA STANLAKE

July 28, 1946 - December 28, 2021

With heavy hearts, we announce that Arlene passed away on December 28, 2021 at the age of 75 years. She is survived by her children Lisa Findlay and Jason Tokariwski; grandchildren Samantha Tkachyk, Corbin Findlay and Brenden Findlay and sister Linda Stanlake.

Arlene’s passion in life was family. Her favourite times were family gatherings with her children and grandchildren. They brought her life joy and what she most wanted was for them to be healthy, happy and successful in whatever they set out to achieve. She showed kindness, generosity and good-heartedness toward those she loved.

To her friends she was cheerful, fun-loving and always up for adventure. She loved traveling, going out dancing and fine dining. She also loved playing cards and word games, shooting pool and shuffleboard.

She grew up on a farm in Swan River for a few years with her two Sisters Linda and Diana, Brother Landis, Mother Alice and Father Landis. They then moved to Winnipeg eventually settling in the Norwood area. She was active in her youth and participated in cheerleading. She was also a fantastic seamstress.

Arlene's career as a school secretary was successful. She worked at various schools in the River East School Division until a well-deserved retirement. She took pride in doing a professional job, was courteous and helpful to staff. She always had a ready smile for anyone who needed it.

She loved helping others. She was president of her resident association, active on the social committee, kept track of funds and raised money for resident dinners and parties. She also volunteered for the non-profit organization, Creative Retirement. Arlene's most recent volunteer work was helping refugees and immigrants to learn English.

We will all miss her smile, laughter, and kindness.  Her quick wit and sense of humour. We may not be able to hold her in our arms any longer, but we will hold her light in our hearts forever.

Arlene's family kindly requests that all of her friends and relatives take a few minutes to honour her memory by watching the photo-biography above. Please, also consider sharing your own photos, memories, and stories by making use of the comment section on this page.
